As a girl myself, it's a scary concept to rank myself against other women aesthetically. Men don't understand girl world, but it's a real thing and that's what taking place here. Girl world is complicated and we have different "rules" we have to abide by in order to maintain its peace (ig its comparable to bro-code). There are outliers in girl world who can confidentially say that they are #1's and will put themselves at the front of the line, but that is bc they are quite literally such a beauty that the backlash of doing that would be minimal, and every girl knows that. OR they don't care about the backlash at all, albeit this is more rare than you'd think. The girls in the video are also trying to maintain the order of their friendship and its seems very evident to me. To tell other women, who are your friends, that you view yourself as prettier than them is social suicide and no one wants to do that to themselves. Also, putting yourself at the front and declaring yourself as prettiest is also not in your best interest bc ppl at the top are always the most picked apart. "She ain't all that" "she's too fat to be the prettiest" "I can't believe they chose her and not the girl with the [insert prettier feature here]". Unless you have confidence of steel, no one wants to deal with that. It is in no one's interests to 1) declare themselves the prettiest or 2) be picked as the prettiest. Another aspect of girl world is maintaining a sense of humility. It's why self depreciation is such a popular thing to do. It's better to say horrible things about yourself and appear humble than to speak highly of yourself and someone calls you a stuck up b!tch. Bc in girl world, being a b!tch to other girls is grounds for exile, and nothing is worse than when you are a girl and have no girl friends. Every girl you know who doesn't have any girl friends is the worst, and there is a reason. Trust me. In conclusion, this video seems like it should just be as simple as ranking beauty but it's not. Beauty is a very serious topic in girl world and it's roots run dangerously deep. If it had been ranking accomplishments, style, haircare, humor, etc. then the ranking probably would have turned out differently, where the girls are more confident and willing to declare their talents as higher ranked than others, but beauty is too risky of a topic to do that with. *disclaimer* not all girls/women think the same as this. This is just a general observation I have seen and experienced in my 24 years of being a girl on this earth. There will always be outliers to this logic and cultural, religious, and economic differences that can have a factor in this logic. But most girls (whether they know the name for it or not) know what girl world is and to a certain extent, maintain order within it. Girl world isn't all bad. It's just a way to bond with girls and a proper way to do so, but it can be very toxic at times. Also, girl world can "change" or be "modified" in the presence of men. This may sound like a lot, but it's not like all of this hits you at once as a girl. You have years to learn this stuff.

As a woman, we play the fake nice game because if we don’t we’ll get called a b**** by all the other women around us. If I were to tell another woman “Yeah, I think I’m really pretty”, odds are I’d be seen as conceited. So I would have to go with “Well I think I have a good personality” instead. I am old and I did the "online dating" thing back in the AOL days. It was dialup and chat rooms with no uploads for pics/videos. You had to sell yourself on words alone. There was this one chat room that a couple of local ladies started up to meet guys. Since no one could tell what someone looked like of course the topic a lot of time is what you looked like. When asked I would tell them "I am a butt ugly jerk". Women would ask me why I would say that. I would tell them that it is twofold, when we meet in person and they agree I can say I did tell you that beforehand. If we meet and they disagree then it is a pleasant surprise for them. So, in a way it's a win/win for me. Plus, it generated a lot of interest and women wanting to see for themselves :). I met my wife on that, 25+ years ago.

you are telling me there's no vanity and fakeness in countries like Ukraine or Russia at all? LOL yeah ok. Its in every corner of the world. I grew up with Ukrainians, Russians, Belarusians and Romanians around me and it obviously depends on the person. The amount of fakeness in the church communities (since they don't tend to let anyone else in outside of their church setting) is outrageous. You could see it in their Instagrams with fancy cars and hotel stays but in reality they're broke as everyone else or living at home.

A while ago, I was watching a reality tv show with some friends, and one of them said that she thought one of the girls was attractive. I said I didn't think she were attractive because of the heavy plastic surgery she had. I just thought it looked bad. The other friend I'm sitting with says "Don't shame her!" This is after she even said one of the guys looked like a horse and laughed about it, but I didn't even call her out on that contradiction like I should've. I was very irritated by this because I was just giving my opinion that I don't even really care about to begin with. "Shaming" was such an extreme word to use, and me thinking that the plastic surgery looked bad was just truth. That was a moment when I really noticed how insulting a woman's appearance is shaming, but insulting a man's appearance is funny.

Words like "shaming" are just what young/immature people use as a way of putting themselves on a moral pedestal when you express an opinion they don't like. It's not that they're ever less judgemental people, it's that they think their judgements are reasonable and other peoples' aren't. If they can frame it as "shaming" instead of just a difference of viewpoint, they get to paint the other person as bad for holding that opinion, while they sit on a pedestal of being the morally righteous anti-shaming hero (in their mind).

I think you can find out through conversation, ask why they do things a certain way. No one is 100 percent humble or honest. But motives and the way people speak can give you an indication about how they truly are. It's not a bad think for trying to be humble but having trouble doing it. People who are offended by someone who is being themselves is also telling more about the person who is offended, not the one who is just being themselves (authentic)

So interesting! Am currently listening to this audio book "Practical Female Psychology", everything these women said made sense. If not for this book I'd genuinely be confused as to why they're contradicting themselves. The act of contradicting themselves isn't considered, if the statements intention was to be positive. It's an attempt to avoid conflict. Honesty can be negative at times, so avoiding negativity takes precedence over the truth. It talks about male behavior as well, it says men are usually straight forward facing conflict head on to resolve or get past it.

@@Owen-sx4jj I've heard of the manosphere, but from what I've seen I still leave confused, still not understanding women. This book speaks on why women and men are the way they are, and how it's a man's job to navigate Female nature to benefit both genders. Female nature is as it is by design. Asking a woman to think and behave like a man, is essentially asking her to enter the world defenseless. Women aren't the strongest between the two genders, their power lays within their ability to appeal with people to do what they want. I think every man should read or listen to this book, because it paints women in a good light, by acknowledging female nature as not inherently evil. It also educates on how navigate it.

@@brandoncrawford1089 yh Im in the stance that they aren't inherently evil they just have been conditioned to like things that don't benefit them or anyone. Sadly there are a lot of truly beautiful and model-status women with perfect symmetry, features and aesthetics who are incredibly insecure about themselves. For instance a lot of women choose to cover up their bigger bust cuz they think it's " gross " and you can't wear the cute tops that their skinny friends wear. The whole point of being human is using the cards that have been given to you and using to the best of your ability. There are so many traditionally unattractive people who succeeded in life and became attractive in the eyes of the general public.

Starting to think people too often confuse attractiveness for raw talent, or even intelligence, as a social currency. Sure, it can help the individual, but once the work becomes difficult that "pretty person" is usually the first to bail out because they've been catered to a certain way. So what if you look good? That won't save lives or fix a tire, it's basically useless to the rest of us. 🤷🏽♀️

Bruh don't get me wrong you should go out of your way to say "yo you ugly as hell" but don't put people in a state of mind where they think they are more attractive then they are. People should accept how attractive they are. You wanna look better, exercise eat healthy, have a skin routine, dress with proper cloths, hair routine get a good barber. Not expensive btw I went to a barber that you had to make an appointment first of all I came in they had me wait after they washed my hair for 10 mins because they had cut someone else even tho I made an appointment and I had to wait second of all they just do not know how to come different hair I have curly hair you do not use a normal small space cones I need large teeth large space cones yet they fucked up and they didn't even cut my hair right. They gave me a cut that child could do better for a high price. So boys get a good barber. Looks are the first thing you see not personality I will see what kind of body and face you have if it's not my type it's not my type.

I think an interesting point someone made on the original video was "It’s hard for girls to judge each other's appearance negativity, we’re all hyper aware of how bad insecurity of body image can get so we can’t help but be extra careful to not hurt another girl the same way. I don’t think it makes a difference if the girls are friends or strangers, they still wouldn’t want to lower anyone’s self esteem." However by doing it in a way that overbearing it just feel disingenuous and make u seem a tad bit selfish. I guess it finding a right balance but not being overly fake with it that just can cause greater harm than good to the person ur speaking to. It like if a person who perceived themself as ugly but have people who are considered good-looking keep telling them in same manner as this video that there good looking it can make that person feel worse about themself. Edit: Prob should clarify that the opposite is also true in the sense some people can just be nasty/ and not give to f and judge u hard however the point of this comment was to look at not that side of the coin but rather the specific girls who are acting fake nice and come off as disingenuous

But that's false. Go to any high school or college and you'll see girls judging each other's looks harshly. It's only hard ON CAMERA for them to judge each other's looks.

Yea yea go tell the original poster of that comment that they are full of the same stuff Amber Heard left on Johnny Depp's bed. Women can be extremely nasty to each other, seen and experienced it all through high school and even in the workplace later on (and not just me, got plenty of stories from friends, relatives and even my own mom who was a nurse, WILD stuff happened at work). Fake niceness is way too obvious at times. Many women are nasty af, but instead of being upfront/confrontational towards you, they go and backstab you or talk behind your back. So no, her comment about women being more aware of other women getting hurt easily might apply to some/few women (who are compassionate and kind by nature), but it's not exactly the whole truth.

@@Michelle_McKenzie Untrue. Most girls try to build each other up to an extent, especially when talking with each other. They usually dislike conflict. If they say something rude, its in a passive aggressive manner because they don't know how to express themselves properly, similar to how a lot of men just come off full aggressive.

@@Michelle_McKenzie women CAN be nasty to each other, but I've also met lots of genuinely kind women. I agree with OP. I would find it really hard to tell another woman she's ugly because I would picture her going home with that thought and dwelling on it. I couldn't stand being the cause of someone else's pain. Everyone is being so hard to the women in the video, but what were they supposed to do? It's a very awkward situation and I guarantee that if they would have fought for #1, everyone here would be complaining about their inflated ego. What's a girl to do?!
