One, i think its scripted and two my mom used to answer questions for me at the doctor’s too. I was shy but I was open with my mom and my mom knows when I truly don’t feel good or when I just need a check up. I haven’t had to answer these kinds of questions but not necessarily in this situation, some kids may not feel comfortable or feel shy speaking to a doctor so parents answer for them. I think its fine if parents do that as long as the parent truly understands and hopefully the kid expresses how they feel so the parent can say it for them. And no, my mom isn’t controlling, like I said I was shy and I was like that with most people I just met or certain people I would even see often. I understand the patient is supposed to answer but in some situations the parent knows or is just trying to get an answer whether that makes them a Karen or not.
@Hannah-no8yh

@@emilymae2155 ok but no matter how open you are to a parent they simply can’t know everything about how your feeling and they can very easily word what you say to them in a way that throws the doctor completely off what’s happening . Sadly it happens all the time. I have a physical disability and growing up doctors never talked to me, always my parents. Out in the community too, everyone talks to the parents/person I am with. As I became an adult, going to new doctors is hard because a lot of questions I still cannot answer. At 38, I advocate the hell out of life, only to be treated less than because I have a disability. I know most people do not do this intentionally, which I am very understanding of, but when you have to self advocate for every little thing, it takes its toll.

ADHD wasn't a 'thing' when I was at school. I just got sent to the headmaster or the library. I spent so much time in the library that I ended up collecting antique books as an adult! They also had me tutoring the younger kids in the end, which was great. I never learned how to remember things without an organiser/notes/lists/phone reminders, as my brain just doesn't work that way. But as difficult as it was, I'm glad I wasn't just medicated as I was forced to learn alternative coping methods that I still use today. Now I can build my own version of a 'school' for kids that are having the same issues. I don't think classroom-based learning works for everyone, or that it even SHOULD work for everyone.

I know that my mom left me at school to learn seventeen years ago before going to see the psychologist, but I don’t have a favorite school! I started seeing the psychologist when I was still in fourth grade after I threw a temper tantrum when my assistant couldn’t let me go upstairs to get my backpack and it stayed at school on the weekend, but I was able to bring it back home with me on a Monday! I spent the rest of my fifth grade year in the special Ed classroom for hitting that annoying black boy that I didn’t like.

This makes me so fucking angry, the exact same thing happened to me when i was 9. Treated like I was stupid and that something was wrong with me all the time. Let the girl speak and give her a chance. The way her mother stops her from fidgeting makes me so angry, it's so hard to sit still and she's trying her best. I'm 15 at the moment, almost 16 and i'm still being treated like i'm "special" and I got discharged because they "Couldn't help me". Bullshit. Child healthcare and mental health care is terrible and the doctors are jerks who shouldn't be working with kids.

As a observe of this video , I clearly see the girl give positive reactions to the doctor's questions. Mother from the other side gives negative reactions to doctor's questions. This make he daughter feel more frustrated and abbandment. BEST WAY TO UNDERSTAND THE BRAIN IS TO UNDERSTAND THE PERSONS EMOTIONS. BE TRULY EMPATHIC WHEN YOU LISTEN. BLINK OF A EYE OR HUG FROM THE HEART CAN MAKE MIRACLES. As a Human don't lable your body parts. Understand it's propose.

@@alegriart My son has a very difficult time verbalizing because of several different disorders. A parent that supports their child and recognizes their strengths and weaknesses is a parent who accepts their child for who they are. A short doctor's appointment, that the family has been waiting for, is not the place to take time to improve cognitive and social development. We practice before going to appointments, my son knows why we are going to the appointment, we review everything that he feels the need to address and I support him during the appointment so we can all use the time as efficiently as possible. This dramatization is terribly offputting and I don't know about you but I have never sat in a doctor's office in such a configuration. Remember the parent is trying to help their child succeed in life. I would be neglectful if I didn't help my child in the ways he needs help. We are all unique and each of us has a unique way of being in the world. Getting help is one way I can understand how my child experiences the world and in turn I can educate, have fun, and love my child in the way he will understand.

As someone with ADHD this is not at all like someone with ADHD acts yes we do get distracted easy and yes we are a bit hyper but we don’t just don’t pay attention when someone talks to us. The only time I get like really distracted and shut myself out (like the girl did when they were talking to her) is when I’m mostly alone or when they are not talking to me. It is a bit hard to focus on school in classroom full of people because some people are talking or doing other stuff so it is hard to pay attention to a teacher but it’s still not that bad. (Really sorry for bad English is not my first language)

FyI. ADHD is Not a behavior disorder. It is a problem to focus. The brain doesn’t produce enough dophimin. So the person is constantly bored and can’t stay focused on that current subject. Also it is like a million thoughts going through your head at once but you can’t decide which one to listen to. Understand that ADHD has NOTHING to do with behavioral problems.

The whole thing is scripted (for teaching purposes). However, the mom answering all the questions for her and the constant talking and jumping from person to person... It's enough to drive anyone crazy. I would have asked the mom to leave the room and just taken a minute to calm the environment and then have a calm conversation with Maddy. Reduce the stimuli and then you'll get A LOT more of her attention
