great job bud, i love seeing people like you work that actually label the parts and do the necessary steps to restore the engine. i've seen a lot of people that just restore the outside and that's just not mechanically right. Take it Ez and keep it right; from Canada.

Depends on oil / gas ratio. He probably had 25:1 break in mixture. Then ( at least for me ) 40:1 non ethenahl PRIEMIUM gas oil to gas ratio after break in. Myself I wouldn't reveal a new built engine that hi in neutral. I've always run my rebuilts at idle to a little over idea for 15 minutes and shut engine down till stone cold and repeat several times increasing time it runs. By doing this the pistons " normalize " and less chance if scuffing during rest of breaking. Also use OMC's breaking procedures of running different rpm's for first ten hours of breaking. Never lost an engine I rebuilt in the 13 years of building them in my own business ( nor anytime I worked for a dealership ). But people. Got lazy and didn't want to do as per the OMC procedures so I quit rebuilding engine for the next 8 years unless I personally new my customer. I use to race ALKI A&B class hydro in the 60's then Mods in the 70's came to Fl. And raced 250 cc hydro in the Pro ( old alki ) division. More fun then a barrel of monkey's if I can still say that in this crazy WOKE world !! F 74

Have a quick question. .. which way did you turn the impeller when putting the new into the water pump? I have a mark 20 that I'm restoring and all water ways are clear but I'm not getting water out. I put a new one on and still nothing

U-turn at the same direction the motor turns as you put it in you may have leaky seal top or bottom also check the tube that goes between the engine and the lower unit there’s a rubber gasket that could be bad
@bigdmc1

John May not sure I replied to the right spot anyway you turn at the same direction as the motor turns as you put it in I would check seals top and bottom of the water pump housing also check the little rubber tube goes between the engine and the lower unit

I'm going to make you the rubber handles for your both T bolts that tighten to the boat. What I need from you, is pictures of the kill switch and the inner. What see on the big motor is the rubber handles, but they are missing on the 20 hp. any way can you send me pictures.
