These types of artists are fading faster and faster, not seeing too many who are stepping up......Like George Jones said not too long before he passed, the new "country" needs to go find their own identity(call it what they will) and give the traditional country music's identity back. I agree whole heartedly, it truly was "Murder on Music Row", as Allen Jackson and George Strait wrote and sang!

One thing I enjoyed with the old Country singers was their flashy attire e.g. Jimmy Dickens...Porter Wagoner, etc.....That set Country & Western apart from any other music......Gotta give them credit for going the whole 9 yards in pleasing their audiences, & fans.....This is a super song by Jimmy & Merle....Never did hear this before....

Hendrix is part of an entirely different genre of music. Thats like comparing Dr. Dre to Paco DeLucia, it makes no sense. According to Bob Dylan, Merle Haggard is his favorite singer songwriter and that says alot. Dylan was the first folk singer to go electric. Hendrix was talented, but his strength was in playing guitar, while Merle Haggards strength has always been in writing songs. Much like Willie Nelson, Haggard combines elements of jazz and blues with country music.

Point of fact: Do you truly believe anyone [other than your tasteless self] really gives a shit, pal? I can assure you they don't. (While taking "Hendrix over this", you can go on ahead and take a hike, too, while your at it. Get gone, prick!)
@dwc0365

That comment is just about as stupid as anything I’ve ever heard from someone! Take your dumb, comparing apples to oranges ass down the road. I can assure you that Jimi Hendrix himself would think you a complete fool for making such a statement, and disrespecting two legends the likes of these two men.
