Kirk should play the slide guitar part during the chorus of Sad But True when they play it live instead of just picking the notes. It sounds so much cooler with that on the record. Their heaviest riff is the one after the soft intro on To Live Is To Die where it goes back and forth between F# and G. It's also kinda like the Jaws theme the way it picks up speed.

It’s heavy in a different way , it’s not thrash metal anymore . Loads of mid tempo stomping riffs . Think of the intro to the god that failed , mighty sounding . Don’t treat on me when that main riff kicks in after the “ I wanna be in America part “ again lumbering and mighty sounding . Or the intro to wolf and man with that sounds like a repeated punch to the face (especially after nothing else matters ) . It’s heavy like leper messiah for whom the bell tolls or harvester of sorrow .

'Battery' - Post guitar solo/outro riff. 4. 'Disposable Heroes' - 3rd fast D flat riff/prechorus. 5. 'Frayed ends of sanity' - intro. 6. Blackened - Verse riff AND first breakdown riff. 7. 'Shortest Straw' - intro riff. 8. 'Don't tread on me' - intro riff 9. 'Sad but true' - main riff AND verse. 10. 'Eye of the Beholder' - 2nd riff.

IDK man, the opening riff of Heir Apparent (Opeth) is a tad overweight as well. But comparing Opeth to Metallica is imho an apples to oranges scenario. I haven't liked a Metallica album since AJ4A. Saying that anything at all off the sellout album is their heaviest is an insult to Heavy Metal. Sure, Opeth's style changes as well but nobody is making the claim that the riff from "Sorceress" is Opeth's heaviest riff. KZitemrs come up with some weird filler shite just to release new content.
