Hello, Maybe you can help? I just purchased the same one direct from MFJ, NEW of course and have always chosen this tuner in the past (new always) and have NEVER had issues, well except for the loose parts as you stated. Now I have a NEW ISSUE after just buying the same tuner only about 30-40 days ago. AND NOW RUNNING A BIT OF POWER around 700-900 WATTS. First, I tune up my wire/ delta loop with my FT-2000, 70 WATTS. Great, all good so far! After I tune up my newly purchased AL-80B, and running about 700-800, and sometimes 900 watts with a 1:1 match, the SWR METER on the tuner creeps up slowly and keeps rising, BUT I do not know how far it will rise because I only key down on CW-tune for less than 5-7 seconds when IN MODE CW-TUNE, and then when adjusting the tuner in the opposite direction using the "inductance" it then creeps DOWN! WTH! I have never seen this before, at least with this tuner. I have never had an issue like this before. I had to open it up BRAND NEW, and just about every screw was "stripped" and just turned not coming out! so in order to get the screws out I had to tap a small flathead in between the cover and body to apply pressure against the cover as the screws were turned and they finally came out, ****AND ONE I EVEN HAD TO USE A DREMEL CUT-OFF WHEEL to actually cut the screw! GEEZE, #$#$%$^%&^& I have never seen workmanship like this in my life! I know if I return it they (MFJ) will say I abused it, so I am looking for a solution to repair this myself! I would not even sell this to someone UNLESS I TOLD THE BUYER the exact same story as I am telling you FULL DISCLOSURE! I really do not want to sell because I always had great things to say about this tuner, until now! So any help you MIGHT give me would be great, thanks in advance, and 73 Tom - KD6SBR, In Pahrump, NV

KD6SBR, I try to tell people to stay away from any and all MFJ products unless your buying from a tech, I have seen solder joints not soldered, wired wrong, almost ALWAYS loose screws/ nuts…. 1st I would open again and check every nut and bolt again and after checking put a small drop of paint or nail polish on the screw or nut. Than look at EVERY solder joint and dot with a marker if possible, no use doing same thing over and over. Then I would hook a second wattmeter after the tuner to see what a real wattmeter reads. If you didn’t have a second one I would highly recommend picking one up they are one of the most valuable diagnostic tools a HAM can have. You coax from the antenna has polarity running both up to the antenna and down so a good choke and ground is always needed. Let me know what you find after doing these basic steps first if you already haven’t. KB2LMN
