I recommend Antenna Analyzer, it will show Smith chart. The radio only shows SWR ratio. As long as SWR ratio and Smith chart says 50ohm, then you're good to go.

Thanks for the video. I bought one for $50 at a Ham Fest (s Silent Key gear) I haven't opened it up yet. It has a tag on it that reads Repaired, and Tested 6/13. We'll see what it looks like inside.

Very cool! Check it out and just dont match something you shouldn't like a 20m dipole on 80m and it should be fine.

I've had good luck with my 989C. I enjoy using it for fine-tuning my IC-7300 (100W) and I needed an external tuner, because I began using an antenna analyzer and wow -- I learned that my fan dipole antenna is impossible to tune very well and needs this type of assistant..... No fires so far! Bob KM6PAX

I have 2 of them. One has been alot better. The other a fellow caught on fire 🔥 😳 tuning a g5rv laying on his h.o.a. roof to be stealthy lol 😆 its never been right since. Then the meters flashed over and detection diodes appeared to have been replace a few times. So i fixed it and it was ok for a while then the meters and diodes had problems. The inductor is iffy. I use a heathkit sa2060a tuner and a older 989c
