It seems she has adapted her menu to include things from other cultures and that’s what she served you. Only thing really Haitian was the fried plantain, pikliez and the macaroni au gratin. You def should have tried some black rice with sauce. Best thing in the world.

Fair points but regardless Naomi's Garden is highly regarded in the area so I think it does fit here. Similarly, I wouldn't say Versailles is a deep dive into Cuban culture in Miami. This is more of a video about the different people in Miami, and a brief overview of the food since we did 5 different cuisines. We are releasing an entire series on the various cuisines of Miami that will far surpass this one over the next couple months. A lot of this is about the people and their stories and less on cuisine deep dives. That said we already have filmed our next Haiti in Miami video which will be out shortly and really shows the good Haitian Food of Miami. Stay tuned!

I do live not that far away from that Jamaican Kitchen joint, I could probably take 2 or 3 buses there (I'm in South Broward, so a bit north of where they are). I'd go there just for the spicy beef patties and that chicken curry patty. Also that fried rice - Jamaican Chinese is very underrated, even if there aren't that many unique dishes to that specific sub culture of Chinese. But jerk fried rice?! Sign me up. And that Haitian spot, looked so good also. wow.

You wouldn’t say chicken fried would you? Everyone say fried chicken. You wouldn’t say goat curry, instead you would say Curry Goat. Very simple. You wouldn’t say Chicken barbecue but you would say Barbecue chicken. You wouldn’t say chicken rotisserie but you would say rotisserie chicken. You wouldn’t say chicken jerk but you would say jerk chicken. You wouldn’t say steak peppered but you would say peppered steak. The correct term is curry goat not goat curry.

Our Guyanese friend got it wrong😉 It’s curry chicken, not chicken curry. Curry is the spice that you seasoning the chicken with and describes what you’re doing to the chicken. Similarly jerk chicken describes the seasoning you’re applying to the chicken with jerk seasoning. Chicken curry suggests your are infusing the curry with chicken flavor and that the opposite of what the intention is. In any case curry chicken, chicken curry, curry shrimp or shrimp curry all end up tasting delicious😋

Being from Miami, traveled all across the Caribbean and ate damned everything shown on this video. Some of the things you skipped over are griot and lambi, excellent Haitian dishes. Puerto Rican is too close to Cuba to develop a singular cuisine. Mafongo is not my kind of food--not into mashed things. The best place in Miami for Jamaican food is Clive's. The best oxtail and jerk to be found north of Kingston. To me, Cuban food as cuisine is fabulous. Most varied than other Caribbean cuisines--except for Martinique which is really French with Caribbean flavors. Also you missed that is plentiful in Miami is Colombian food, another overlooked cuisine with excellent seafood.
