I like Rudy’s recordings the way they were originally pressed. It’s history! I just acquired a Steve Allen first pressing, Jazz for Tonight, on Coral 1955. Check it out. Fantastic!

That Van Gelder story is tough to hear, cuz Michael is so right. That house was a part of US history, and should never have been demolished, but instead turned into a museum. Man, do I love those orange label 1st Impulse records too. I’ve unfortunately only got a handful of em, but they’re some of my prized possessions. That story about the Beatles mono “kangaroo jump” records was great, and I feel extremely fortunate to own a copy of that mono box set from 2014. What a beautiful sounding bunch of records. Love Michael’s DVD’s! I bought both of them. He forgot to mention his other one, “It’s a vinyl world after all”. Ken, thank you so much for doing these vids with Michael and Art. They are truly wonderful!

Turntable design fascinates me but I don't see all that much real engineering going on in turntables anymore. I'd like to build a real hard core turntable but I don't have the machining resources yet. Several commercial tables get one thing pretty good but no one gets it all right.
