In pieces like this Debussy was so visionary, so far ahead of his time. He was probably the most influential of all 20th century composers, especially in the field of jazz. And thank you Michelangeli!

Such magnificent control and mastery of the keyboard... And in such a way as to preserve an unhurried sense... I worship this man as the Debussy authority of Debussy authorities.

Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli was a beast. He flew fighter planes in the Italian Air Force during World War 2, was later a member of the fascist underground, then became a medical student, and in the meantime, he became one of THE greatest pianists ever. Now that is even more badass than Clint Eastwood.

@Ponchothewise Following the choice of Debussy, the composer, the title is written in the end of the score and here they put it in the end of the piece. "The girl with the flaxen hair" was the previous piece played in the complete film of Michelangeli's Préludes.

@Ponchothewise it's the name of the prelude previous this one. no. 8 was called girl with the flaxen hair. i'm not really sure why it was included in this video though.

@Ponchothewise After every Prélude you can see the title, Prélude n. 8 is "La fille" and, just befor ABM starts playing n. 9, the title of n. 8 re-appears.

the tonal center is arguable...can you really say that you hear the Bb throughout the entire piece? The cadence at the end sounds more like a deceptive one in Db major to me..
