Desktop version of Office has more functionality so I would go with that and Surface Go. Note that you will have to factor in price of the Surface Go Type Cover because, in my opinion, the Microsoft virtual keyboard isn't as intuitive to type on as the iPad's. No need to get the Alcantara version of the keyboard as the standard keyboard looks and feels very durable, and the typing surface is easier to clean. Surface Pen is another US $100. Another major plus for the Surface Go is the file system is typical OS file system which is familiar to anyone. iOS file system is sometimes very frustrating.

I like watching your videos, but I don't particularly care for writing on tablets. I love the feel of pen and pencil to paper, the smooth crisp lines of a quality pen and the scratchy yet soft feel graphite making its mark. I'll use a tablet or phone for a quick note if I don't have my pocket pad and pen or pencil. With technology making leaps and bounds forward with no signs of slowing down, I hope traditional media will never die out. That'd be a crying 😭 shame. James, I'm the same. I can't take notes/write on a glass surface, there's something about pen and paper for taking notes. That said, I've often wondered why companies like Microsoft, Apple, et al, don't put a special coating on the screen or make the pen have that "drag" that would make it feel more like paper? I would switch then, but as long as it feels like plastic slip sliding across glass, I'll stick with pen and paper.

I think the only thing at this point that comes close are the digital pens with textured tips. Even then it's really no comparison. With time it seems there's an invention for everything. Actually dealing with setting up Linux or anything else is *way* beyond what she is able to do. I decided on the Surface Go over others because I like how open the hardware is. I can truly run whatever I want without jumping though much hoops like the iPad. I'm also a Linux user and plan on running Linux full time on this tablet. From what I gather online, everything works under Linux after some set up except for the cameras, which is good because I never expected to make much use of the cameras anyways. Palm Rejection refers to a feature that changes the way that the touch screen determines what is considered a 'touch'. Basically, when the tablet detects the tip of the stylus near the screen it turns off the rest of the screens touch sensitivity. This allows you to rest your hand on the screen while you write with the stylus . Without palm rejection you have to hold your hand away from the screen while you write. The Surface Go supports palm rejection when used with an 'active' stylus such as the MS Surface Stylus.

This app does not have an infinite x and y axis space therefore it does not go well with tutorials. Additional complaint, surface pro has an annoying defect, but I'am not sure if MS go has the same defect. That is you cannot write with your palm on the screen when your MS surface is charging, intermittent but when you disconnect the charger, it works! And that ladies and gentlemen, is a big turn off! Frequently discussed in the MS forum but no answer to that yet (Alot of the reply by admin is, are you using microsoft one note, blablabla ). SO beware! Oh I'm using surface pro i5 1796 model.
