I am obviously extremely late, but I am enjoying this campaign very much. If, by any chance, some of you great people ever see my comment, let me tell you, the hours I have listened to you have been a delight!

No, even as a native English speaker, this was Lil redirecting her upset. It should have solely been on Amity at that point, Aer was simply trying to clean up the mess she made by allowing him entry. But it is also very human to have misplaced anger, prior displeasure in someone, making them easier to blame than someone you do like for example. Aer and her had butted heads prior a bit. And Amity plays up the amicable attitude and gets away with far too much sabotaging the party imo. And for Caoimhe: she had just recently had a very intimate encounter where Lilissan and her shared bonding over the veil being lifted when Cao was released from Strahd's charm. So that's why I think she went so quickly to Lil's defence, even if she was in the wrong. This group is a chaotic mess in intraparty dynamics atm, lol.

I normally find Aer annoying and arrogant but I feel for him a little in this episode.

I know I’m several years late to the party, but with ever passing episode, I have more of an urge to see Amity thrown to the direwolves in retaliation. Not because she’s a coward, that’s excuseable, and even interesting to watch, seeing how that’s the theme of this series - but because she’s constantly selling the others out actively, while simultaneously painting herself as a victim of group dynamics when people are rightfully angry at her. And somehow her waifish poor widdle baby spiel gets some of the others to rugsweep her backstabbing, defend her and blame others for the bad situations, life endangerment and tense group dynamics she caused. Such a piece of work, she must have really high charisma to pull that off. Very well played by the player who voiced her, of course! impressive that you manage to do it so well without feeling icked out by her character (or icked out enough for it to be noticeable in the way you play)! I’m having a blast with this series!

I feel a bit for Aethrandir. Amity can invite Strahd in and people just say "it's not your fault" Aethrandir on the other hand can't do anything right by the group.

Ehhhhhh... I'll admit Lilissen's criticism of him was uncalled for but him letting his rage take over like that was WAY outta line.

@TangledLion nonsensical take, Aerthrandir nearly died being protective and dealing with the situation whilst Lilissen was absent and then chews him out. Caoimhe was also ridiculous in then standing by Lilissen in the way she did.

Yea, I was pretty pissed by this. Amity keeps getting away with actively sabotaging the group's safety and never gets called out on bc she is "innocent" and "childish" but Aerthrandr gets blamed for trying to intercede and protect the situations from deteriorating further. It's really frustrating to me that Aer gets flack that isn't his fault simply bc he can be a lil annoying at times by talking too much. Being protective but annoying is much better than being "kind" as they are stabbing you in the back.

My impression so far of the story is good but I am finding that lilissen is a bit of a mary sue which has been bothering me for awhile Amity's cowardness balances out her optimism really well shes the most positive in the room but she will compromise her morals for her survival which i find refreshing Caoimhe is really tough but also really fucked up emotionally which i like Aerthranrir has to be my favourite for how he gives off tired old man energy and he and metrion have such a fun rivalry Metrion is cowardly like amity but is way more mature and grounded in terms of his worldview less optimistic more realistic so his cowardness is fitting from a risk accessment point of view his flirting is also fun and never too crude or intrusive which i really appreciate Lilissen however has next to no flaws and patronises the other characters continuously the person playing her does a great job but her character so far has been really grating with how she can be never wrong in any argument and how she has none of the flaws the other characters have which serve to ground them more im optimistic for an lilissen redemption arc once her backstory is revealed and she is allowed to be vulnerable like the other characters if that does come to pass i will like her alot more

To be clear I don't get along with people like Lilissen irl so I completely understand where you are coming from with her being "grating" and as you pointed out the player does a great job of keeping her personality consistent which designates the previously mentioned traits as the characters traits not the player's. However, I must admit I'm somewhat confused at what you mean by her having no flaws. Wouldn't some of the characteristics you named be flaws? She can never be wrong in an argument, (arrogance), and she's very insecure. At least as I'm reading it. She's quite weak physically STR/CON and she knows that. Wether she want's to admit it or not she's very reliant on the group for survival and her air of superiority I believe is to trick the others and herself into believing that they need her, because on her own, the areas in which she has weakness would be her swift undoing.

@@chrisstewart4549they were told to write characters who would likely act with cowardice, not someone written already a hero, just an average Joe. My issue about Amity is that everyone just readily accepts her betrayals and blame it on others. Somehow Aerthrandr got more flack than Amity did when she invited him in?!

That would be rather poor interpretation of Aerthrandir and Metrion by Lilissen... Strahd is the sort of person whose anger spills on other people. Aerthrandir and Metrion are more likely to swallow their anger and sulk a bit.

Subjective opinion: im aware this is probably just my taste.... ive listened to all the episodes up to this point but im really struggling to get into this. I think its because its so relentlessly negative.... and the characters interactions are so often... unpleasant, like even though they are well roleplayed i cant listen to this for too long without feeling down or irritated.... Just too many questions of why these people even stick with each other.... when they constantly fight and argue.... even in the downtime they’re like jabbing at each other.... it is well DM’ed (save for maybe the sheer relentlessness which is tiring) and the roleplay is good, i just wish it wasnt so relentlessly downbeat. Give us some relief! Again this is probably taste but i just dont in for this level of morose when i play/listen to dnd

Just to note as that probably came off very negative im only commenting because i think this has tonnes of potential and I’m invested in it to the point that I’d like to see it get better. Keep it up guys, much love.

The whole point of this specific campaign is that they're playing Curse of Strahd RAW and as true as possible to the Gothic Horror genre that it was designed to be. These two things combined mean that it is an extremely grueling campaign (which is psychologically taxing on characters) and oozes with the inner conflict every character faces of mistrust, fear, and yet the necessity of staying together. I think the "in fighting" is brilliant in that aspect. Every character has a million reasons to be suspicious of everyone else in the party and yet they cannot just go off on their own in this dangerous, confusing, and mysterious place. Any one of them could be an agent of Strahd out to truck them or trap them here, but yet any one of them could be their ticket out of the mists and back to their home world. But they're exhausted and traumatized and they can't even trust themselves to think through all of that clearly, and now there's the possibility that with Strahd's ability to control people..... the secret agent of Strahd might be themselves and they're not even aware of it.
