What Mike Portnoy brings to any song he plays, puts him on another level. His chops are insane. I’ve been playing drums almost thirty years and try as I might, I can never sound like him. Dream Theater May no longer be his family, but he’s still one of the best drummers alive.

Midwest drum , and percussion right here in Wichita Kansas, and to say the least, I was very impressed by his humbleness more than his musicianship. He said he was truly excited to work with Kevin again, but it ended up being the same old unfun bullshit. Kevin I believe said something about how Mike wanted to make up his own drum lines rather than playing what Kevin had in mind for the song, so you could see how that led to differences there. Especially since OSI came about from Jim Matheos sending Moore some riffs from the upcoming Fates Warning album to put keyboard lines over...and instead, Moore chopped them up and made these tracks. So I think Portnoy thought it was gonna be more of a Fates Warning / Dream Theater style band but it was more of a Chroma Key style "Kevin Moore with a backing band" project.
