Hahaha...looks like you were just tickling that conduit lol. I know you could have pushed it but it made me giggle. Have a good day

Thanks for a great review. I have been looking to see what size discs to purchase 5/8 or 7/8. I am glad to hear it will handle both. The instructions are vague when it comes to this topic.

This grinder looks 100% exactly the same as the old model 2780-20. Whats the difference?

Great question! I compared the specs in the manuals of both. The specs seem to be the same. The only thing that seems different is that 2880-20 includes the Type 1 clip-on guard. I'm unsure from my research as to whether the 2780-20 comes with a separate Type 1 guard.

What is the difference between Type 1 guard and Type 27 guard? I bought a used grinder same model as yours and it doesn't come with the guards. I plan only using 4 1/2 disks so I need type 1 and type 27?

A type 1 guard is used when cutting using cutoff wheels. Type 27 guard is used with grinding and polishing. Type 27 grinding wheels have a depressed center and are usually thicker disks.

What's strange is, the 2880 now have rapid stops.

I just bought the same one last week. Is the screw that attaches the spring loaded clip that holds the guard in place suppose to be loose? That screw will not tighten all the way and has alot of play in it. Didn't know if if this is how it was designed. Thanks

I believe it’s by design. My 4.5” Milwaukee 11A corded grinder has the exact same guard setup. My older Milwaukee M18 (non-FUEL) version has a different quick change guard system which in my opinion feels sturdier.

Does this mean that the 2880-20 takes a 4 1/2 grinding disk and you can also put a 5 inch on it

QUESTION- I went to my local hardware store and they had TWO grinders with the same part number 2880-20. The only difference is one had rapid stop and one did not. WHICH IS THE NEWER MODEL? Thank you!
@BruceAlanR
Жыл бұрын
Are you sure wasn’t 2680-20 and 2880-20. 2880 is the FUEL version, which is 4.5-5” and 2680 is 4.5” and not FUEL. 2980-20 is the FUEL 4.5-6” with braking under 3 seconds. If there is a new generation of 2880, I’d say the one with rapid stop is the latest model.

The newer version is the rapid stop version, I bought the 2880-20 with rapid stop for my sons welding class.

Very slow cut on thin metal!! blade or tool issue?

Cheaper cutoff wheel. I've seen in other videos where this tool cuts through stuff larger than this like butter.

Could be that. I do use cheap cutoff wheels.

He was applying very little pressure in both demonstrations. The tool is capable of cutting much faster than this.

It was a combination of both. He chose a terrible disc. Thicker discs take much longer to cut than thinner disks.

Ha! I completely agree. I just like the sparks. Typically I’d cut metal conduit with a Sawzall and deburr with a polishing cloth or grinder.
