I love that you didn't let the stuff your garden grow go to waste! I never put anything organic (as in "has lived before) in trash, even if it is "diseased" - Composting will take care of all that. I think, you actually HAVE to compost it, to grow microbes that fight the things that cause the diseases. And when you return the compost back on the garden beds you put the "pest fighters" right where they are needed.

They are! Maybe not “easy” with digging the shallow hole, but they don’t take very long to build. Could go very fast with some help.

Arbor Day Foundation is touch and go, catch as catch can. I've had mixed results but you cant beat the price for sticks in the mud. 😊

Agreed! Most of the trees they sent were fine, but the Hawthorn I planted near these hügel beds didn’t make it. Oh well, we’ll try again!

I want to do a mini hugal for my moms yard her soil is kinda dead and quite shallow so it doesn't drain well but she loves plants they just struggle to grow and shes not great about watering so theres a bald patch in her garden that she hates Im thinking the only way to fix it is go build a little hill of nutrients there and hopefully we can plant some hardy plants there

Hügel beds would be great: low maintenance, low watering, nutrient rich.

Your garden/ burgeoning food forest is beautiful & I love all of those little log planters you created! They add a nice element of whimsy 😊✨🍄 Also, nice job on the mini Hügel beds- I like your design idea of the beds encircling the tree stump w/ the empty spaces between the beds resembling ‘tree roots’ expanding outward. I thought that was very creative/conceptual thinking 🧠 I look forward to seeing it’s progress! 🌱…🌿…🌳

Thank you so much! There won’t be much happening with the mini beds until next Spring, but I may hollow out the stump just like I did with the logs. The sewer project may be starting sooner than we thought, so that should be interesting. Thanks for watching and commenting!

@@SomeRoomtoGrow 🙏 Willkommen 😄 I enjoy watching your channel because of your humorous & honest approach to gardening. As for the aforementioned tree stump…that would be really cool if you do hollow it out because {in my personal opinion} it would make an awesome food forest centerpiece! I think many different herbs could grow nicely inside of it because the stump is in a semi-soon-to-be-somewhat-shaded area haha ⛅️🌿

Thanks, that's great to hear! I'm definitely thinking of the stump as a centerpiece. There's so much we can do with it!

I may plant some cover crops or just lay down compost for now. I’m glad it was inspiring!
