Although you aren't praising the lens, the photos you showed made me want to get it. I just saw one in great shape for $30 so I came across your video while looking for some insight. I already have the MD Rokkor 35mm f/1.8 and MC Rokkor 58mm f/1.2, this one would fit great in between. I also got the MD zoom 35-70mm f/3.5 macro for free which impressed me a lot but it's not quite as fast, compact and light. Thanks for the review, subscribed and I need to open a beer now haha.

Radu, I don't understand why you have so few subscribers? Your work is always informative, a bit quirky, and beautifully produced - don't lose heart! Best, j

It sure has quite a bit of character, interesting colors and boke. I like how it manages to isolate the subject with the combination of vignetting, soft edges and contrast!

Yeah, it's no doubt a good lens.

Great content. YT algorithm is brutal. I just picked up one of these recently CLA for US$45 coincidentally..! 😂 I also have the Konica 40mm f1.8. Will be interesting to compare them.

Thanks. I have the Konica 40mm as well, it's one of my favourite lenses ever. So much so that I made two reviews for it on the channel.

nice vid. glad you mentioned the konica 40mm f1.8. would you care to elaborate on any other differences in character and (center) sharpness between the two lenses? thanks!

I find the Konica to be the overall better lens. It's character makes me think of the 80s, it's outspoken, but tasteful. The Minolta seems a bit bland, in the way that it's like most 50s out there - good, but nothing special.

I have this lens and it's really a good little lens for Infrared on a converted mirrorless. It's not a pricey lens if you find one. It has a great look in visible light captures.

I have this lens. I forgot I had this lens. When I found it in my drawer I thought it was a weird focal length. Played with it. Fell asleep using it as it was so boring. Found myself awake in a park with dog pee all over me and the lens left in my hand and my camera stolen. The thieves (or dogs) only stole my camera. They too found the lens boring.

This is hilarious! However, truth be told, this lens is rather boring.

I have the simple rule that a lens is good, if you dont regret having used it in a situation where it matters. And i shot some magical photos of my daughter with it. As you say wonderful colors. I also like the bokeh and the blue flares which luckily always fit the composition. I use it often with speedbooster on my Fuji X E2. A perfect match for the X Trans2 Sensor in my humble opinion. I like your conent and just subscribed. Very useful information about gear, not about this worthless sharpness of brick walls kind of crap. Thanks.

@@1kwords I am interested in all aspects of photography and am a Fuji liker for the reasons you described. My own photography definitely shifted towards "family documentary" since arrival of our little. I think in 20 years from now those pictures will matter the most. Spending way too much time on postprocessing myself, I can fully understand your approach to using Fuji's excellent sooc quality. I want to make more use of it myself, but then I find myself going back to raw.
