My favorite thing about Bosh, over someone like AspiringSpike, is that he actually has teaching moments, even when playing brews. I get that Spike streams, but instead of just clickbait titles and salting off when chat calls out bad play, Bosh calls himself out and explains what he did. I’ve learned so much watching these videos.

I love the look back you do at that match 17:30. I think a lot of magic players can fall into the results oriented outlook, where they chase the wrong path because it worked for them one time, rather than looking back at your choices and constantly re-evaluating that you're making the right ones. As Captain Picard once said, "It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life."

This is so odd for me. I had a proxy legacy miracles deck with Jace the Mindsculptor, counterbalance, Terminus and predict(so from like what? 2017?) sitting on my desk for years collecting dust. And today I pulled it back out because a friend wants to build a budget legacy deck and wanted someone to playtest with.

Normally I look for the lines to play and compare my choices with Brian's while watching, but with 2 matches playing to the clock and a mississipi cascading into 4 dinosaurs, I can tell that it's the time to goof around for a while and enjoy the entertaining string of events happening in this league XD.

So, the game against Mississippi river, you conceded g1 to seeing the cascader with plow in hand because you assumed the deck was on the old build. You could have sat there, played it out, and seen that they werent on enough material to beat terminus without emrakul, and been in a spot where you could deckbuild better afterwards.

I've played with zephyrim a fair bit in paper, and I can confirm that it is not a legacy power level card. It is just a beater, and that is not something that legacy is about right now, the only good pure beatstick creature is murktide which is a fair bit larger for only 2 mana Kathy is mostly still just a beater, but there are a lot of decks that can't beat it on account of the lifelink + requiring exile based removal.

I love Miracles but with all the high costing miracle cards I'm not sure Counterbalance is the move here. The only 2s are Counterbalance, there are no 3s. I guess there are a lot of 5s to stop other Forces and it's a powerful mindgame, but between Beans and Bows 2 is an important number. Edit: Yep you caught it.

Question. If you are playing Counterbalance, would a few copies of Remand work in the deck? I know it's not a typical Legacy card now days, but the downside of putting the card back in their hand doesn't seem as bad when you have a passive "true" counter effect sitting in play with a chance to work the next time they try to resolve the spell. Remand drawing a card also seems important because it means you're getting to refresh the top of your deck. Is this still too cute? Is this a case of "win more" because remand would only work well with counterbalance in play? Would the incidental card draw actually be counterproductive when you're trying to control the top of your deck? What about using it as a tempo play to counter something minor, but trigger a miracle on your opponent's turn?

As a paper player I've seen a few Triumph decks and I have questions: Is it just a worse Murktide that disappear to more removal, (Dismember)? Is it literally a auto mull in your opening hand if you are not playing Brainstorm? How much of a pain is a Wasteland deck with Daze? Is a Dreadnaught/Stifle/Dress Down deck unbeatable, (assuming 8 "free" counters)

If decking them was the plan you could have figured that out before 6 brainstorms with Jace and exiled their deck and put the 1 card in their hand back into their deck. Jace in play 8 turns is a Jace with 19 loyalty possible and only 12 needed to deck your opponent so that’s still 3 brainstorms with Jace and you could still deck them before they used prismatic ending to clear out Jace and you were also at 52 life so I guess it’s still a good place to be in.
@rekenner
7 ай бұрын
Bosh would have been hugely behind if he was plussing Jace. He'd have never gotten to that game state without the brainstorms.
@dustinfurness2155
7 ай бұрын
@@rekenner I’m aware of that but there’s always the chance of fate-sealing the opponent (or yourself) to get a slight advantage over doing nothing and with the ability to ALSO brainstorm in between he could have had that Jace up to 12, his life points up to ~43, his opponent drawing badly, and oops “I think by best chance of winning is decking my opponent- what’s that? Jace on 12? Sorry opponent your deck contains 1 card, the card that was in your hand and already unplayable” where if the game plan was anything at all besides decking the opponent I’d say brainstorm with Jace all day long for the card selection and the ditching of bad cards via following some of those brainstorms up with cracked fetch lands, land cycling cards, shuffled ponders, whatever.
