I know this is an older video, I also noticed compression was brought up in the comments already. I think that is why the KW/HP is lacking. I have an 1800 in a caddy, 11.5:1 compression, 42/35 ported head, 276/288 hydro cam, weber 38/38, other stuff here and there. I have been building 8vs since the early 2ks. Compression is the answer. The truck runs with mk2 16v GTIs and vr6 swap cars no problem. I bet its making 125-130 wheel based on the races. I need to get it to a dyno. Keep up the awesome videos man!

Hi there. 1.8 block will fit perfectly with a 2.0L cylinder head don't have to change anything. I have a 1.8 with 2.0L head cam size 298 carb fed weber set up. Works well together.

Hey I’m wanting to put a 272 cam on my 1.8l since I’m already replacing the lifters do you think springs are needed if the cars running good?
@ritchiesridemk1vwbuild853

Hi there. On a 272 cam you don't have to change your springs!!! But it is your choice. Reason for that your lift on a 272 is not that high. Yes you do change Lifters to be save,

Hi there. Yes great set up you have in mind. Run it with a 32/36 weber and that 276 cam you talking about, will gain alot of low bottom end torque.

Hi there. Yes will try to increase compression, going to slap her on dyno first, was thinking gti pistons very high compression piston. And do some head work as well. Maybe then 100kw. Thanks for your comment.
