You are thinking of Cricket. Last I recall hearing, rules may have changed. It was perfectly legal to pretty much beam a batter with the ball. Then, again, this is a sport where they have two positions in the infield calles "Silly". "Silly Left" and "Silly Right". These two positions are on either side of the pitcher.

a fair trade would be if a batter gets hit, the pitcher has to go out back in front of a pitching machine that is set the the same speed as what the batter was hit with and has to get hit

Batters should be given the option to throw at a pitcher if they get hit intentionally. I am glad this petty shit is almost out of the league. Any time I plunked a hitter I would feel so bad and immediately go up and check on them. My last ever pitch thrown in high school I drilled someone in the ribs and it cracked two of them. He was a senior and it ended his high school career. I still feel terrible about it to this day.

Hitting a batter in his batting box should result in a pitcher swap. It is unacceptable to hit a batter in his box, and it is clear that there is no standard for ejections when pitchers hit someone. Umpires are super subjective and sometimes cannot tell the difference between an accident and an intentional assault.

If a pitcher throws at a guy's head with a 90mph+ fastball and connects, at minimum the pitcher should be suspended the amount of STARTS that equals the games the batter misses.
