Great observation. It is what I have noticed after settling into a new life and routine after the hardest year of my life. Loosing 2 jobs during the covid crisis last year, battling weight gain, depression , debt, injury and total relocation of living arrangements I still everyday must work my way out of it all. I found your videos on one of my most down days to date, This was a week before starting new full time employment that is giving me stability to rebuild my life again. Walking with your videos some afternoons around the country side and some afternoons in silence I’ve found a space and time to be myself. I used to walk also workout daily and lost all my good habits last year. Thanks for your work with your videos, they are a great bit of wisdom that I think we all have in us, a great bit of wisdom and space to lay down thoughts has helped me let me align things I know but have forgotten. Keep making videos. It’s like having a friend in this new town that I really needed. Thank you again

Thank you for your support. Sounds like you're on a good path of sorting things out. I like the sound of walks around the countryside. Great way to bring out that spacious feeling in life. What's the countryside like along your walks? Farms, forests, waterfront?

Yes I truly am back on the good path I believe, not to say I left it intentionally. We all loose our way sometimes. It is a path I forged quite some years ago after similar experiences you have shared such as escapism, apathy, wasting time, over indulgence and disorderly living. The humility in admitting these somewhat destructive traits is where I started back then, allowing me to find discipline, organisation, integrity and meaning. Last years events in my life being a big hurdle, I need remind myself of great things I achieved in the face of adversity such as new education qualifications, the completion of giving away all substance addictions and moving across the state to be with my girlfriend of 4 years long distance. The large city where I lived (Sydney Australia) was becoming overwhelmingly busy and expensive, I am still adjusting to the country life being away from things I’ve known most of my life but it is a great time to reflect, grow and move forward again and remind myself of the constant improvement we can all make. The country side where I live offers a lot of rolling hills and farmland, meandering rivers, pine forests and low set mountains. Breath taking views, wild life and natural sounds. Most overwhelming feelings of massive change are usually soothed by the quiet nature and fresh air. I believe it’s a great trade off from my prior normality. I can fish, hike, paint and sit quietly away from busy populated areas and truely soak up life’s good pace. I feel through your words and values these are great things you might also enjoy. Thank you again for providing a space to share and write out my thoughts. I would say that a complete change and the fear of the unknown is better than stagnation and missed opportunity. Would you agree?

Sounds like some ideal landscapes to live near to, makes me look forward to getting out of the big city! You describe my state of mind as well and what led me to start this channel. Good to hear you have found a way to adjust that feeling. It's a good reminder for me as well, to keep breaking out of stagnation every time it settles back in.

@@QuestforaMeaningfulLife I do hope you get to where you want to be in the fresh air and open skies! I lived in the city too long, it served to give me for great memories, however the distractions and frustration became too much. Country space slows the pace of the modern world back to a manageable speed. Best wishes to you my friend, stay well!

"...the main difference is sitting, and not taking in any new information..." I agree; I feel that one of the essences of meditation, for me, is being in a conscious state of sensory deprivation. Ideally, one would also be in a state of "deprivation" from emotional drama, creative thinking, etc. and to utilize meditation as a tool to "recover" from the energy spent in life's activities

I think we need that break from input just to let things digest. That seems to be built into our absolute need for sleep. But if we spend every waking hour pounding our brains with more input, we need something more.

I also agree that walking can (and should?) be used as a break from daily life, to find more PEACE :) I personally just happen to find that sitting meditation, in a relatively balanced/calm state of mind, with as little sensory input as possible, is the most "potent" form of energetic recovery from the world

Even if our "input" is birds and trees, it's still something to process. Can't beat eyes closed and motionless for that complete sensory silence. Have you tried a sensory deprivation tank? I've been meaning to do that for a while.

@@QuestforaMeaningfulLife I haven't used a sensory deprivation tank, but I do multiple things to get "closer" to it by: meditating in a quiet, dark room. earplugs and blindfold. wrapped in a very comfortable blanket, sometimes with a weighted blanket, as well. hot water bottle, if it's cold. etc. works pretty well. :P

I vibe with this deeply. I've al;ways enjoyed walking but could never actually settle down for more than a moment at a time. Can walk for hours though, but the sitting meditation felt more for show than anything else. Hearing now that all that walking was indeed meditation is qute welcomed in my life. Thank you for this video. 😊

Good to hear. I think we could all benefit from more walking time. Have you tried very long distance walking? I've often imagined doing that, but usually find around four hours is enough!

@@QuestforaMeaningfulLife ah, that's way too much for me. I like short little pushes here and there. I'd just get bored otherwise

A short walk can go a long way. Even 5 minutes around the block seems to do wonders to clear the mind.
