Checking in in 2024, I got my philodendron cobra albo at home Depot today. It's a big box hardware/home improvement store. I'd say they're getting more common.

Congrats! It's still very unusual to see over here in the UK, but I'm glad they're more available for you guys. Happy growing! Hope you love it as much as I love mine.

@@ourhouseplants I actually just got her yesterday, which brought me to your channel to find more info on her. Got 6 rooted cuttings in a pot for about 20 USD. Really full and beautiful, I appreciate the info and I am in love already! Now I just need to find a philodendron tortum.... But it's always just one more, isn't it?! 😂🤦♀️🌿

@@courtneyanderson9748 I've found mercari and Poshmark to be unexpected treasure troves for plants. Also check nurseries online, I think there's one in the states called Orange Lake Nursery. They are out of Texas and I'm almost positive I saw them selling tortums for like $25!! I've never done business with him so I can't vouch for them, but I did notice it. I'm just too cheap at the moment lol

I just saved a Albo veriegata out of a Walmart this morning. Two singed leaf tips but the coloring is really good on this guy it was buried alive in a tine of Sago palms lol. I'm excited over the find.

Great video! I too have found this very hard to propagate. The most “successful” way I have found is with fluval, high humidity and warmth. Even then though I only have about 50% success. I have my plant sitting in a southeast corner with a window to the east and one to the south and it still develops runners any time the growth passes the cedar plank it is mounted to. I imagine that the challenges to propagate this plant is what keeps it more on the “rare” side.

Thanks for the tips Sherry. I'm going to give them a go!

I found fulva is the best too! I have it rooted but I'm so nervous to pot. What would you recommend?

@@hbicgirl04 I have found that once they are fairly rooted they will grow faster potted in a chunky soil mix. I love fluval for rooting but the foliage growth is faster once potted in my aroid mix.

I’ve found decent success propagating in perlite. I need to get better at pruning so I can have a bushier plant like yours.

Interesting. I have some of that in a bag outside. I think I'll give it a go as I'm finding the cuttings I took in my last batch very hard to get going.

Thank you for sharing this video. I have had my Monstera Standelyana since early 2022 and it is fairly easy. However, I have one of those annoying single vine plants that you talked about and I don't know what to do to get it to fill out. I also find it very difficult to propagate, I've tried water propagation many times and the cuttings just rot. Please share some tips on propagation.

Hi Lucy! Thanks for your comment. Cut the runners off, back to where the growth is "normal". Move the plant to a brighter spot and the replacement stems should have leaves. As for propagation, my only tip is to take a lot of cuttings, do it when it’s warm and there is lots of light around (Late Spring, and during Summer).

@@ourhouseplants thank for the tips. I’ve cut it back to just two leaves and propagated the cuttings. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Is it putting roots into the pole?

The aerial roots are quite superficial compared to those on other Monstera species, but yes, some of them are growing into the pole. How are yours growing?
