There was a level of excitement that as a gay man, everything was underground. On the positive, there was a sense of freedom and abandonment compared to the humiliation and degrading one might experience if you were not immaculately discrete. Possibly if you were a lesbian bold enough to have a live-mate, the world excused it as eccentric and terribly bold. What a self-effacing act that I had to learn the art of betraying my true nature.

I love seeing Robert Lewis in this documentary!! I adore him. One of the legendary acting teachers. Thanks so much for uploading this great documentary about Montgomery Clift! Fascinating and wonderful man.

Montgomery Clift, in terms of his looks, belongs in a category with only a few Hollywood actors, including, John Derek, Stewart Granger, Cary Grant, Errol Flynn and, from a contemporary standpoint, Mark Harmon, who, bears a striking resemblance to Monty.

Good choices specially Granger. I think Marlons face in his 20's was the most finely crafted.
