took forever to get this up, but here it is... day 2 of my trip to Montauk with Tan where we hoped to catch doormat fluke on party boats, but ended up catching average size keeper fluke and seabass. We fished on the Ebb Tide 4 hour trip this day, the drift was fast enough that jigging bucktails was virtually totally ineffective unless you bombed them out ahead of the drift, but vertically drifting a chicken rig was the better option. We got back to the dock, got a soft shelled crab dinner and hit the jetty and found slightly better fishing than earlier, much fewer searobins and more fluke, same bucktail with whatever kind of gulp you like, I used 5" swimming mullets and 6" grubs which got me one small keeper at the end of the day. Tan got a Trophy sized Robin here. That concluded this trip.... 2 more montauk vids coming from 2 other day trips I made in august.
The lighter white rod I used on the boat/jetty is a 7' pompano bay custom (www.pompanobayr...)
Reel on pompano bay is a penn clash 4k spooled with 20lb sufix 832
Heavier Conventional rod/reel is a st croix 8' mojo musky paired with a penn squall 12 spooled with 50lb powerpro slick 8
best gulp right here for keeper fluke/seabass- amzn.to/2vEuBXT
