For me, that feeling of how weird it is to be fat is only felt in hindsight. I went from 387-lbs at my highest to now floating in the 180s. Here's an example from my experience. I never realized just how much I thought about food until the thoughts stopped. At some point when I was around 210-lbs, the constant thoughts over food just quit happening. Before, I'd have a meal, and even after having stuffed myself, I'd already be thinking about my next meal. That was MY normal. And because I lacked another experiential frame of reference to compare to, I thought this WAS normal. Normal for everyone. Part of the challenge of unfattening oneself isn't just learning the diet models that get you there, but in performing an entire paradigm shift of your core beliefs and the routinized behaviors they spring forth from as nessesarily a matter of experience. When your experiences accumulate over decades, it'll feel like moving mountains to replace them. But if you learn a lot of the concepts I've iust laid out, it can be a window to understanding your mind and how to better navigate its reconditioning.

@Moshm4n This right here speaks volumes to me. My max weight was 387 as well funnily enough! I am around 210 now as well and can confirm what you said about food thoughts. I also never had a point of reference or baseline to model my eating habits off of growing up. Throughout this journey I am a completely changed person. Though I will say I still find myself getting internally disappointed when I hear my family and relatives say “Live a little, one meal won’t hurt your progress”. That may be true on paper but that was the exact type of mentality that got me to my highest weight. With my personal goals and pursuit of a disciplined mentality, overconsumption is just not something I find joy in anymore in any regards. Apologies on that side rant at the end. It’s awesome to see someone at my exact starting weight at my targeted goal weight. 🤙

I never really thought about how much fat on the legs would affect movement like that. I'm built like you, normal arms and legs but a huge torso and neck, I'm always on my feet and moving at work. Always wondered how someone could let their fat make them immobile, never even considered how much of a difference it would make if my fat was stored elsewhere. Thank you for this perspective

At my biggest I tipped the scale at 445 lbs at 6 ft 2 in, 19 years old. I can relate to storing my fat in my torso, but I don't have a lot of neck fat, instead its on my back as well. Anyways every day when I woke up I felt ill, literally sick like a cold and dizzy. It was terrible and made me not want to get up. However, I finally started to take control of my health and I have lost 64 pounds so far. I was lucky that when I was in highschool I was into lifting weights so under all this fat there is muscle. I’m underweight. I have an autoimmune disorder and chronic stomach issues, and I have a lot of the same problems you mention, just weirdly mirrored. Issues with the boney bits of my body or how mobility can be a challenge. The exhaustion is unreal. I knew our struggles had some overlap, but after watching this video I realize it’s way more than just “some”. There’s just one major difference. I always see people attempt to justify fat-shaming by saying they’re tying to help the person change and be healthier. I can tell you that those people are full of shit, because they don’t pick on me. I’m not healthy, I look like the wind will just blow me away. I technically could force-feed myself even though it’s physically painful to eat, yet they don’t try and bully me into it. Proof enough to me that they’re not trying to use harassment as a motivational tool, but use motivation as an excuse for harassment. Edit: I appreciate that the replies are trying to be helpful, but please don’t give out unsolicited medical advice, especially when I didn’t detail my exact issues. Simple dietary changes aren’t always enough.

No autoimmune disorder, but I'm a type one diabetic and have struggled with weight since I was younger. I was always skinny, I'm 30, 5'7 and weigh 125 lbs. I've always been a big eater as a small guy, but the weight never sticks. However, watching guys like Brently and other larger guys struggling to lose their weight. It made me feel like a little baby, their journey seems harder than what I'm trying to achieve, I just want to gain 20 lbs of muscle, not lose over 100 like these guys do. I don't think I'm working hard enough, I'm gonna start working out tonight! Good luck to the rest of you skinny guys out there watching! Sorry I realize that what I have isn't even close to what you guys are dealing with, but I saw you guys said you were underweight so I couldn't help but vent here as well. Again good luck, I believe in you all!

Ayyyy I'm underweight, too (6 ft / 120 lbs or 1,83 m / 54 kg). It feels especially stupid if you have a girlfriend which is of normal weight but gets insecure about it because you are so skinny compared to her. I support her working out but 25% body fat percentage for a woman isn't really obese. I hope she doesn't think that anything is wrong with her bodyweight. it's more like I'm very light weigh and that I'm the part that will make people look critically at us. (I don't care too much about that tho.) I also have a medical condition (Gilbert Syndrome) where my liver doesn't work at full capacity and I have a preference of not eating a lot of greasy or fat food. Maybe you can relate to that as well. I hope I can surpass my PR of 58+ kg one day and get over 75 kg so I'm heavier than my gf and can flex on her about it xd

Great video! It's really fascinating to me how obesity manifests itself in different people. I'm built almost exactly the same as you. I was 585 pounds at one time. It's really freaking weird to be so obese but not have fat fingers, forearms, calves, and feet. Like, my perspective when I'm at a computer is that I'm not even obese because my hands are slender to the point of having gaps between the fingers and I can see the bone structure throughout my hand. I feel like it's a really subtle thing that makes it hard to internalize how fat I am because I mostly just see my slender hands and forearms. Obesity is tough for everyone but people who are built like us are super lucky to be able to stay somewhat mobile at a high weight. I always appreciate your perspective, thanks for always being so inspirational.

Wow I've seen you pop up many times for the past year or two and didn't actually think you lost that much fat until I scrolled to your oldest videos and now I see you've come a long way, indeed! Take all the encouragement you get from us but at the same time don't let the kind words allow you to stop making progress. Be happy with where you're at now but also realise you still have a long journey to go! A long, hard but fun journey especially if you're training strength and hitting PR's! Your body has held on to this much fat for years, stressing your muscles so when you finally drop to even 30% body fat, you're going to have more muscle than the average skinny guy who's been working out for 3-4 years as long as you continue training strength and eating high amounts of protein!!! You're doing great bro but don't get discouraged and look for major shortcuts such as steroids. Steroids are always a risk to our health but more so when you're holding on to a lot of excess fat and they can be great tools to lose fat... However, if you *were* to go down that route, even using weight loss drugs that are not steroids get down to below 30% body fat and get a blood test to check your cholesterol levels (lipids), your organ health etc to see if it's safe enough.. But if you can get down to 30% body fat without steroids or strong weight loss drugs, you can get down to 20% without them!!! 20% is a healthy and decently lean physique for most people. You will still look a bit fat because of stretched skin but if you continue working out and building muscle when you get to that point, the added muscle should tighten your skin somewhat and you can look at options on fixing that up for aesthetics and comfort. I've never been morbidally obese but at 30% body fat (borderline obese) I could do maybe 1 pullup and 3-4 chin-ups but after 2 years of dropping down to 15-20% body fat then bulking back up to 30% again... At 30% now, with just over 10kg of added muscle I can do 15 pullups! So even if you're really fat and do strength training you can still increase your relative body strength and mobility. Being fat also gives you an advantage in moving heavy weights but if you continue training you can retain that strength and even improve upon it with less body fat. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some safe weight loss supplements (not drugs) include: Al-carnitine - a naturally found amino acid in our bodies that tell our bodies to burn fat for fuel. Smells like vinegar but tastes like vomit so have a sugar-free chaser or something. Creatine - also naturally found in our bodies. It allows you to push for extra reps. It will make you retain a few kg of water but it helps build muscle and lose fat slightly Caffeine - Appetite suppressant, speeds up metabolism, amplifies motivation and energy EAA's - essential amino acids our bodies need. They also help you build muscle and may contribute to fat loss These supplements are pretty much side effect free except for caffeine. Creatine will cause water retention but that is one of the 2 main purposes of creatine so it's not really a side effect but an intended effect. EAA's are completely side effect free and Al-carnitine in higher than normal doses may cause nausea and mess with your digestion a bit and apparently can make your sweat smell fishy. If you have epilepsy apparently high doses of al-carnitine may help trigger seizures/lower seizure threshold slightly. Then there is also cardarine... Cardarine apparently doesn't have any reported side effects but scientists experimenting with the drug on mice found it caused them to develop cancerous tumours after a while in very high doses. Human doses are much, MUCH lower than what was used in mice and is usually used for 8 weeks max so I wouldn't mess with it if you have cancer run in your family. Cardarine GREATLY increases your endurance and is a great fat loss drug but I don't recommend it because humans don't have enough research done on it except for that 1 study on mice and anecdotes.

I am not obese, but I do have a thoroughly messed up foot because of an accident. That was enough for me to feel stuck. It really became second habit for me to always calculate how long I could stand, to worry about whether there would be places wherever I'd want to go, etc. and even that was a loss of freedom. Some of the toughest times I went through was right after a Dr told me I had to either get lucky or my situation would end up staying as it was. I was lucky to some extent, because I kept looking for different options ended up having very very intense rehab after 5 years of disability (which I realize very well isn't possible for everyone). Anyway I think the mental side of things is grossly overlooked/underestimated by the general population who have never faced any sort of limitation in what they can do, and it's the mental side that was difficult for me. The pain I could deal with, but not the severely limited freedom, because that takes so many things away from you in life (i.e. going out with friends, traveling, going out in nature). I used to have little sympathy for morbidly obese people, not understanding why they wouldn't just get up and walk, but ever since my accident it's like... I get it. It's easy to stay stuck when you're already feeling that way and when the statistics are against you. I still think people can make a change at any point, though, I just have come to realize that even 10% of a change is better than none, and for many people, 10% of a change is a lot easier to do that none. I don't really know where I was going with this, I just... Thank you for reminding me of the situation I worked hard to leave, and thank you for reminding all of us of the difficulties of life and the agency we have to assume to move forward and make our own lives better.

I seen this video on my recommended so I wanted to click on it to see how it is to be Obese since I have never experienced it myself and I also have never been Overweight before either. One of my sisters are Obese and my Dad is Overweight but I myself have never experienced it so I was curious. I dropped a sub as well, You seem like a good guy regardless of your struggles with Obesity ❤💪

People on either extremes of the spectrum have the same problem and it is their relationship with food. No matter if you’re obese or underweight, you need to primarily see food as a way to maintain your health.

@@0neiricNomad Yeah that's true. They say Obese people eat to much and Underweight people eat to little which I do eat to little and its purposely due to a medical condition but also I heard genetics play a role in weight as well. I was 6 pounds under from being overweight before, and then I had loss of appetite and was only drinking fluids and I rapidly lost 50+ pounds and was hospitalized a couple times this year because of it.

@AustinGamingKZitem If i were you, i would look toward the bodybuilding community. There's a TON of guys just like you that were severely underweight with eating disorders or stomach and digestion issues that have helpful tips for adding mass at a rate that doesnt just result in carrying 20lbs more fat. If you look up bulking tips on any platform you should get some good results. Hope all of the medical stuff is okay, been there on the other side for being too heavy, i know it isn't fun.

You go, king! My father sadly is 130 kg and doesn't want anyone to help him because "he is doing enough"...

Number 1 rule of losing weight: NEVER just focus on your look, it helped me a lot, just stop giving a crap about what other people think about you and you will already be free to focus on your strenght and new abilities! Beauty will come when you least expect it and the feeling you get when you realize it is just sensational.
