Hi John. Your Lickitys are near that same pressure range. I checked and usually saw about 1500 to 1700psi. Pressure is found by determining the area of the ram surface and multiplying by the pressure. Area = pi times the radius squared. (3x3) X 3.14 = 28.26. Then multiply pressure and you get 28,260 psi or 14 tons. That's what I learned after 12 years of public school😅. Plenty of pressure.

@@hkerr-di1yg hi there i most likley learned it but forgot it way back . do you know or did you ever move the wedge closer a bit , the book says not to but it looks like 2 inches would not interfere in anything , john

John, only had a wedge off once when I sandblasted and painted one a long time ago. They were made to be moved back to accommodate longer logs. Those plates behind the wedge would be removed and then loosen all of those bolts. Can't see why moving the wedge forward and adding another plate would hurt anything. I used to just add another log behind the one on the wedge and run it through. I say go ahead and move it up. I'll be waiting.

With a cylinder diameter of 6” @ 1000 psi = 12.6 imp. Tons pushing. What is the rod diameter so the pulling force can be calculated?

@@fricknjeep with a 2.5” rod, the pulling force rod size is about 10.4 imp. Tons, @ 1000 psi. However the load is practically zero.
