@stevenichols2938

In fairness to Eddie's girlfriend, you might consider that her behavior is likely very inline with how a panicked person would react. A calmer person might "paddle" the boat to the swimmer, but it also looks like there is no way she would get the boat to him in time anyway (which could also heighten the panic level - knowing that Eddie really has no chance). Panicked or not, I would imagine most people would scream for the Eddie to swim faster, even though it would do no good. Consider the many fans (and even coaches) who foolishly yell at athletes to move faster - it doesn't help but it gives worked up people a release.

kellphil76 -- What I mean is, both characters had no hope of survival by that point: Chrissie actually reaches out to the buoy (which let's Us know just how far out she is in the water, with no help in sight or earshot) before colliding w/ it...but, she, like Eddie, was being dragged about...the difference is, when Eddie hit the side of the boat, that was definite head trauma. Truthfully, neither one of them could have been saved by that point, even if they were brought back to shore...to much bodily damage, trauma, and blood loss. Both horrible, painful ends.

Not really. A shark would not be able to come out of the water at that angle. When great whites breach, they are mostly perpendicular to the waterline. In this scene, the tail end is in the water as the bulk of the body is skimming the surface? Very unrealistic. The best, and saddest, death scene in the franchise is when Marge is killed while saving Sean. That was also the proper angle, as only the shark's head came out of the water.

To be fair, Jaws 2 is the only sequel in the series to mention an actual passage of time in the series. It was established in Jaws 2 that it takes place 4 years after the events of the first film. The older son is supposed to be 16 the younger one is 8. Obviously the actors are much older but it would make sense if in the first film one was 12 and the other was four. The first film's actors look their age.
@JoshMikael666

I was just going to comment something similar, but wanted to cover myself and review previous comments. In the first Jaws film (and book) Michael has just celebrated his 12th birthday and Sean is 6 years old, going on 7. In Jaws 2, you can see a plaque in Chief Brody's office commemorating him on 5 years of dedicated service and considering he just got the job a few months prior in the first film, logic states that in Jaws 2, Michael is 17 (aside from both Martin and Ellen and some of the kids referencing this in fact) and Sean is 11 going on 12. In terms of continuity, Jaws 2 actually hit the mark.

Regarding the scene where Tina doesn't help Eddie, it's perfectly normal behaviour that she would sit there looking dumbstruck. And also perfectly normal that she would be babbling nonsense when Brody finds her. It's called shock. I have seen people, young girls especially, who have led pretty sheltered and easy lives, in terrifying and dangerous situations, who just stand there gawping and have to be dragged out of the way, not even having any sense about them to move out of the way of dangerous projectiles coming their way, and even mass brawls spreading towards them. I experienced a riot once at a punk show, where a bunch of skin-heads turned up. It was bedlam. Blood, glass, broken tables and chairs, and even people being tossed about like rag dolls. I myself had to save a girl who stood right in the path of both a bottle and a chair. And another girl stood right in the middle of the fighting and became injured pretty badly because she was just too shocked to move. The girl I pulled out of the building, she was talking absolute nonsense when we got outside. Like "I forgot my drink", and "the band isn't finished yet, why are we outside?". Perfectly normal behaviour.

I think the reason the girl didn't help Eddie into the boat was because she was too terrified after seeing the shark push the boat away, watching Eddie being dragged through the water and slamming into the boat, and Eddie covered in blood trying to crawl back into the boat.

It's very much implied that the shark in Jaws 2 was also a relative of the first shark out for revenge. We see it attack the divers near the downed Orca, which means it was prowling that specific area. Later, Brody asks the marine biologists if such a thing would be possible, and she of course shuts him down. So, the through line is there, it's just done much, much subtler than Jaws 4. Also, Helen Brody in Jaws 4 is absolutely being shown to have psychic visions. Not only of things to come and the past, as you showed with her "seeing" in her mind Chief Brody destroying the first shark, but she practically says she has a psychic link to the shark. She knows it's there, knows it's watching, knows it's hunting her and Mike. They don't believe her until near the end of the film. I am surprised that wasn't up there with the shark roar as the most ridiculous things about the film. Talk about jumping the shark... I only ever saw the film on TV, and every time they showed the version with the narration intro and the end scene where the shark actually is impaled and pulls the boat down while gurgling blood out of its wounds. I never knew the theatrical version had the exploding shark until I saw it on another KZitem video...

It was that side of the boat that was struck by the shark, which made Eddie fall into the water. And then when the shark attacked Eddie and drove him through the water, crashing into the boat he hit the side of the boat at about the same spot. So it's no wonder the gunwale of the boat cracked after getting rammed twice in a row like that.

Missed one. When in part 4 the shark lunges about 50 feet out of the water to get the Mario Van Peebles character. Jaws takes him into his mouth with all those teeth and then after the weird climax the character shows back up without a scratch anywhere. I recognized the growling of the shark from The Munsters. The same sound as Spot, their pet dragon. Thanks for the fun, Minty. I watch all your videos that feature a movie I have seen. Excellent work!

While I agree, Tina should have tried something more than screaming "Eddy swim!" She didn't strike me as the type that actually knew how to sail. Or operate the boat. I believe it was her boat, but she was from a well to do family if I'm remembering correctly. I'm sure she had one cause the other kids her age had one. Doesn't mean she'd know much about sailing. As for the part where the shark gets Eddie, well once that happened, there's not a damn thing that she could have done about it. Helping him into the boat would have been futile. Given the way it slammed him into the boat, it had a very secure hold on him. And those teeth are really sharp. If she had somehow by some miracle been able to pull him into the boat he would have lost his leg(s) and most likely bled out. He would have died either from the blood loss, or the shock from the attack. There's also the very good chance that by trying to help him, when he's finally pulled under she could have been dragged down with him. Eddie was dead the moment he hit the water. Her saying "Make it go away, please make it go away." Was not her asking Eddie to make it go away. She was terrified. People often mentally revert back to being a scared child during something like that. When a monster comes out of no where, eats someone you know in front of you. Your first impulse besides screaming, is to wish your parents to help make the monster leave and hope it won't come for you. It was a subconscious plea for her parents (or god even) to make the monster go away.
