You did a great job of answering some very personal questions. I agree, those first two years will make you, or break you. I was moving back to Alaska when I had my accident and I didn't get out of the hospital until the beginning of winter. So the Seasonal Affective Disorder you mentioned, on top of being a newly injured quadriplegic, was the nails in my coffin for the first two years. I remember staying in bed trying to stay asleep (the only way to escape the pain) until my body hurt so bad I had to get up. I also agree with you about having a dependable, knowledgeable support circle. This can make all the difference in an individual's quality of life. Thanks for sharing your life.

Major props to you for living in Alaska. Beautiful place I imagine, but way too cold for me lol. The whole putting on multiple layers every day and taking it off/putting back on was too much. Cheers to you! Mahalo for your words and for watching!

If you were in Nova Scotia where they refuse to give medical care (especially for SCIs with autonomic dysreflexia--which is life threatening), there is no reason NOT to be depressed...someone please HELP!

What are the biggest challenges as a quadriplegic that you go through

Excellent question. Right now, maintenance and aging with a spinal cord injury is posing the biggest challenge. Wheelchair maintenance, keeping shoulders right and general health. Trying to make your body move when it doesn’t want to eat something I’m slowly learning to deal with lol
