Cairnmore of Fleet is one of the smaller Scottish mountains. It is on the eastern side of River Cree, overlooking Kirroughtree Forest. We started from the Kirroughtree Forest near the visitor centre, not much above sea level. We rode across the valley floor and then up the eastern side of the mountain, following a fire road to start and then onto the mountain path. Steep and bouncy in patches, loose rock in places, a few bits are a bit boggy, just when you are running out of steam and need to concentrate. It is possible to ride all the way to the top, but you need to have loaded up with calories to do it without pushing you bike. I gave it a fair shot, Kev probably rode more, but it is an achievement to get up any mountain. The view on our ride was fantastic, but it is exposed.
