I stopped to mountain bike in Claremore Oklahoma on a roundabout way to the Sedona Mountain Bike Festival in Arizona. My plan was to ride Turkey Mountain in Tulsa but, they were hosting a big running race and had the trails closed off for the day because of it. Enter plan B. I had options of running over to Oklahoma City or Bentonville, AR, both of which are two hour drives in opposite directions. Obviously, I headed over to Claremore, OK to check out their trails and only have a 30 mile drive!
I have my Reeb Sqweeb and Ibis Exie on this trip and opted to roll the Exie since it seemed a lot like XC trails. It was a good choice but, there was some chunkier trails where more squish would have been nice but wasn't a necessity. The Claremore Bike Trails are a lot like Hobbs State Park outside of Bentonville if you've ever been there. Nice XC trails, a few black diamond trails with some good chunk, and some awesome routes along the water's edge as you can see from my video. It's a really nice trail system and I would highly recommend it for that type of riding. If you're into fast downhill jump lines and flow it might not be the best trail for you and Turkey Mountain in Tulsa would probably be the better choice. No lifts at Turkey Mountain so you're grunting uphill for laps unless you have an e-bike.
Nice trails and a pretty good brewery scene in Tulsa so check it all out if you get this way. Cabin Boy Brewery had my favorite beverages. Next stop for me is the Palo Duro Canyon just SE of Amarillo, TX for a little riding over there. Stay tuned and hit that SUBSCRIBE button to follow along! Most importantly, get outside!
