How does sorghum feed compared to alfalfa? Thinking of trying some next year. Also do you get more than 1 cutting?
@Mad_Farmer912

It's more like corn silage. 2-3 cuttings are possible. Watch for a video later. I'm going to look at the other field and I'll throw some info on it.

Back again. I ended up buying ANOTHER 1411. The tilt cylinder works on this one but it doesn’t tilt down all the way. If you look at the cylinder it has plenty of room to go still. But I notice the cylinder is actually backwards 🤔 Could that be the cause?

Have you ever tried dry baling it?? What would it be like as dry feed??
@Mad_Farmer912

I never have, but I guess it is done. One problem is it takes alot to dry it. Maybe it depends on the variety that is used, not sure. What I did last year I tedded out the day I cut it, raked it the next and it was getting to dry on me when chopping. Another year I had it I raked it three times over 4 days and was still almost to wet when chopping.

I tired to adjust the tilt on my 1411 and when I try to pull the pin out to move it to another hole the pin has a ton of pressure on it and it has to be tapped out with a hammer and screwdriver. I don’t understand it. Is there a trick to it?
@Mad_Farmer912

The head has to be fully raised to the point it releases the safety stops. If it is I'm guessing something is bent. Or If your in the front hole in that slot or the one under the cylinder the head should tilt back first then raise. If it doesn't you might have a blown gasket or piston in the cylinder. The back hole I moved to, the head should tilt just enough to take the pressure of the pin.

@@Mad_Farmer912 so uh lol. Hah. Um. I tapped it out with a screwdriver and the head jolted forward and now my screwdriver is stuck..... The head does tilt but when I raise it, it doesn’t tilt first then raise. It raises and tilts all at the same time. Same way when I lower it

@@nalley6815 was the tilt installed from the dealer new or afterwards? It should tilt first then raise and drop then tilt. Your supposed to be able to just bump the hydraulics to tilt the head up if you see a rock to pass over and not have to raise the head. I'm wondering if it's plumbed into the wrong line. Left wheel cylinder has on hose and the right has two. Some how the connections might be wrong causing to work opposite and put down pressure against the pin instead of lifting and loosening the pin.

@@Mad_Farmer912 I don’t know if it was installed factory or not. I got it from an auction back in July. That makes a lot of sense though

@@nalley6815 I know it's an option. If it's ordered factory installed or added at the dealer I would think they did it right, but you never know. Another thing I thought of is since their single acting cylinders possibly there is an air bubble in the lines that needs bled out. Also what tractor are you using?If I was to use my White 2-70 I know there is something I have to do with a proportioning valve for single acting cylinders work on it.
