TIP: hold shift + use the slider to trim samples. Saved me a lot of time! ✊🏾

This is that one tip that I’ve always been trying to use with the XL but unfortunately my slider is jammed and will not function using this shortcut lol thank you so much for taking the time and watching the video by the way and also sharing this with us. Much love and blessings to you. 🙏🏽🙏🏽

Dope tutorial. That's what I love about the old gear, like you said, you have to take your time and by doing so you can really focus on the music. 😀

Thank you so much for this feedback and I know we both relate to this process as I seen a lot of your videos. That’s one of the reasons why I feel like it be impossible for me to let go of his machine it definitely holds it’s value in my workflow.

I'm only usingfl studio for a whole time but I still love watching people making beats using a sampling machine. It's just amazing how they made a beat without relying on modern tech. Just imagine how rappers and producer did this during 80's and 90's and early 2000's.

Man, I guarantee the XL is going to be a sampler you’ll never want to sell. I really do love my newer MPC‘s but if I ever had to sell them I sure would the only one I would keep is my XL since it does have a very unique sound to it. Amazing choice

@@malobeats it's a definite learning curve, and it's really making me work for the beats, but man you couldn't be more correct about developing a connection with the music you're sampling. My ear is going through a full workout having to really listen to what's going on and fitting it all together for the bigger musical picture. Will never sell this machine

Pull my MPC out of the closet yesterday and loved the sound. We all know sound really do matter on these machines… really great smacking hard. That being said after awhile familiarizing with the work flow again…it’s back in storage. I still have it and will never trade it but there it will remain at least for Now lol 😂 One Love my brother thanks 🙏🏽 for your platform and content you take out the time to provide us.

Bro this was a dope tutorial, I learnt a lot. I have an XL. I’m familiar with all the features and have a basic workflow but I struggle with all the different sampling techniques. Would love to see a detailed video of you explaining the different methods. Also, the beat came out real nice 🔥

Thank you for taking the time and watching the video brother, and I’ve owned the 2500 and the workflow of the machine it’s a lot better than the XL but the XL has a unique sound that punches much better than the 2500 in my personal opinion

Since using the 2000 in '97 and a 2000xl since 2015, I can say there is no format or real workflow to beatmaking. Just do it! Dope video to show how u do it!

Yo Malo! Sorry to bother you with unrelated topics in this video, but I'm trying to get into mixing my MPC Beats on Ableton, following the advices I've been picking up from your videos. I just rewatched your export video for the 4th time this morning :D I tried to export the full beat and it was shit. Now, I'm trying to export by sequence and so everything is looking fine. It's even possible to bypass the 8 tracks problem. The issue is that,it ends up being a lot of work, even though I have all the control of the tracks I need. My question is. Is this how you do it? By sequence? Are you thinking about making a mastering on Ableton video? Any plugins you could advise? I got some from Damon Flores, but they're a bit expensive for me atm. Thank you. I'm going to watch this video too :D

Great video Malo. I love working on the 2000XL. The old MPCs do fine tune our beat making skills. The slower process for me makes it more enjoyable and I usually pick up on the fine details. Another thing about the old MPCs is the sound. I love the crunchy, gritty, punchy sound that's already there before we record and process it.

Well I sold my MPC-X for a really scary reason thanks to the advice of a music industry professional. Modern MPCs have touch screens and when they die the machine also dies, and changing it will cost as much as the machine, so I continue with my MPC 2000XL making the same good beats and with more peace of mind, because the screen can die and not cost me as much as machine. Ever since akai changed the idea from MPC to ¨Music Production Center¨, I didn't feel comfortable and excited with the sounds. I prefer to stay in the ¨Midi Production Center¨, really simpler, more limited, without plugins and just concentrating 100% on the art of sampling. I'm about to buy a SP404 mk2 for its different way of working and its wonderful FX, to also control it with MPC 2000 XL and that will be my production and DJ equipment.

I’m just getting back into using and learning my MPC2000XL after owning it for almost 19 years now. I feel guilty about never getting that good with it, because I got it around the time I first discovered Fruity Loops and stuck with that out of convenience lol. (Later that same year, 9th wonder made fruity loops famous thanks to the Black Album). But I’m glad I never sold it. It’s therapeutic getting back into it. It makes you work hard for it and you appreciate every drop of juice you’re able to squeeze out of it!
