The view under low light feels like the view from a hovering Eagle; "Drat, all the landing pads are full!"

This is a really wonderful build. I’m just old enough to remember Space 1999, but I always thought those Eagle ships had a very realistic look to them .

I built one of these models when they first came out and mounted it on a piece of plywood and used a thin layer of concrete for the moonscape so it could be mounted on a wall

That looks amazing in low light - it almost looks like it should be mounted in a shadow box.

Looks really good. I like how you added the dusting of the beige/tan and black with the airbrush over the landscape, it really makes it pop. Maybe take some medium gray charcoal mixed with water, rub it into the cracks and crevices on the roofs of the buildings to bring out the detail, or a flat wash with medium gray, then a dusting of dull clear coat over top with the airbrush. With the charcoal and water, you can use a dry rag or brush and simulate weathering or gas burns. I’ve built some amazing military planes and they look like they just landed from a dogfight. Very nice build so far, I still need to learn the LED lighting thing, I want to do my cars that way. Cheers

This looks great Boyd, I think its so good that it should be displayed its own now. The other models would distract from it too much . Well done 👏

It looks really nice! I just had an idea: If you watch the intro to the show, when the camera moves up to simulate the moon breaking away from Earth orbit, it looks like the landscape in the background is made of flat cutouts. If you plan to display this flat, maybe you could print some images like that to serve as a backdrop.

It's looking great, Boyd!!!! I am concerned that your plan to display your other around the base may make things too busy, and cause too much distraction from the actual moon base model, itself. I'm sure that you will figure out what is best to do, yourself. Some people who have built this kit have wall mounted it, like a picture, and that type of mounting looks good. Happy modeling!!!

Very evocative lighting and even your thrown-together side light, very nice. Too bad there isn't a way to suggest the lunar horizon to give a sense of how "small" this outpost is, etc. Interesting solutions to the various problems of this kit.

Nice work! I wonder if we will ever actually find a way to make artificial gravity. I guess the show producers thought we would have by 1999.

It's been many years since I watched the series, but what was the logic for having buildings unconnected to each other? Were there supposed to be underground passages between them?

i have seen people take die cast cars that are 1:18 scale may be that are torn up rusted and fix them up restore them they put a dust of some kind on to the a wet glued flooring of the car....might be something to do to this in a few areas or really lite amount all over to get moon dust....you could definitly buy another kit just to try the moon base and compare shadows from the dust on camera to see if it workout

Strictly speaking, there should also be no light diffusions, as there is no atmosphere to cause that effect - everything should be totally stark. To be honest, I can’t remember if they bothered with that level of detail on the programme special effects, but given that everything else was done to such a high standard?
