Oh yeah, that is weird. I feel like that's common though, you try to tell a lesson in a very simplistic (almost fairy tale kind of) way. But as a filmmaker, you just have to cast kids who are older and out grew the material itself.

***** Are you sure about this? When last heard of; Tommy was serving with the Green Berets in Cambodia under the command of Colonel Walt E Kurtz. The army records have him listed as disappearing after the fall of the Kurtz compound. Unconfirmed reports have him working as late as 1980 as a mercenary in South East Asia.

Directed by Ted Peshak and the little boy Tommy was played by his son Skip Peshak, according to imdb most of these public info shorts were directed by Ted. Many of the actors were friends or family. Still it gives us many funny episodes for MST3000 to use. 😄

As dated and silly as this is, it does teach a good lesson to kids. Namely get off your lazy ass and help out around the house. You could do this same short today and all you'd have to change is maybe his mom working outside the home and Tommy instead sits around staring at his Ipad or texting his friends and wants to ask his parents for an Xbox One or PS4.
