Super moist and delicious mugu boakiba / dhaal cake / yellow split gram cake / mugu foni boakiba baked 2 ways / in the oven and on stove

My mother and grandmother used to make this cake in those firewood stoves. I did my best to do it alike. The recipe is slightly different from the one I posted on tiktok. I increased coconut milk and added dhiyaahakuru to it. The recipe posted on tiktok is good too.
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cups yellow split gram (mugu)
- 2 cups water
- 1 pandan leaf
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 cup coconut milk
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 tbsp rose water
- 1 tbsp dhiyaahakuru
Directions
- Wash and soak yellow split gram (mugu) for at least 30 mins to 1 hour.
- Drain the water.
- Add soaked mugu, water and pandan leaves. cook till it is cooked and no more water left. Remove pandan leaves and let it cool down.
- Blend cooked mugu n sugar.
- Remove to a mixing bowl. Add coconut milk and mix it. Add eggs and mix well.
- Add flour gradually while mixing it. add rose water and mix. Add dhiyaahakuru and mix it. It is optional, but it does enhance the flavours of the cake. I think it is called coconut molasses, not sure about the English name. Comment below if I am wrong or you know the correct name.
- Lid on, bake on stove with a tawa underneath the pan, on the lowest heat till top dries out.
- If baking in oven 150'C for 45-60 mins. If using oven, water bath with foil cover is better. The cake I showed in the video was without water bath and without foil cover though. It tastes still good, with few cracks.
