Well, it confirms what Adrian Bushby (Muse engineer) said in an interview that Chris really knows what to do with his thing, he's so tight and sounds so good. Every take he does is practically the master takes. If there's a redone, it's probably because he wants to hone in certain bits. He knows well what to be kept and what to be thrown out. Adrian said the three of them really click well to each other in the studio and that's what makes who they're today as Muse.

That's not really true, even though I would agree on the term genius. Only for music they are 3 examples of people who were definitely more genius than Bellamy. 1. Beethoven - objectively best harmonies ever written 2. Frank Zappa - even though I don't like his music, his compositions are far beyond creative 3. Roger Waters - besides me liking Bellamies voice and instrumental play more, Waters was probably the best songwriter who ever lived until this day. Animals, Wish you were here and especially The Wall... probably the best albums ever released

This is amazing. Do they just make it up as they go along or come into the studio with everything already worked out? Do they practice all those parts together at rehearsals, gradually adding 2nd and third parts using keyboard sounds for choirs and strings etc, then get the real things in to record when the notes are written out? Mind blowing. The musicianship and clarity of vision is incredible.

Like a lot of people I was amazed to find that there were so many other players on this album, the effort that went to it. Thirty years ago the resulting album would have been mixed and mastered in such a way that it could breathe (sic) and had dynamics, so you could hear the space around those amazing singers and string players, and the resulting atmosphere would have been goose-bump raising. Remember those 'concept albums' of the 70's and 80's, not least those by the likes of Pink Floyd? This album, like practically every fucking release for the last 20 years, is a hyper-compressed mess and you just don't get any sense of the drama that Matt was obviously aiming for. I wonder if he ever listens to the 'finalized' (as Kim Deal [Pixies] called it) stereo releases of the band's albums?
