MUTHIRAKKANJI
Horswegram Kanji
Ingredients
1. Kerala raw rice (chemba rice / any rice) 1 cup
2. Horsegram 1/3 cup
3. Grated coconut for coconut milk 1-1 ½ cup
Preparation
1. Dry roast the gram , pulse when cool, winnow to remove the husk ,set aside
2. Pressure cook the washed rice & the gram after washing well with 8-9 cups of water to 4-5 whistles
3. Open when cool , add the coconut milk while bubbling, stir ,set aside.
4. Have it with a special chammanthy and dry roasted pappads.
CHAMMANTHY
Ingredients
1. Grated coconut 1 cup
2. Red chilli 4-6
3. Asafoetida powder 1 tsp
4. Curry leaves
5. Tamarind small gooseberry size
6. Salt to taste
Preparation
1. Dry roast the coconut and chilli together till golden , grind with all the items adding 3-4 tsp water slightly coarsly till rolling consistency.
