As promised, here’s what I found wrong when I disassembled the 289 HiPo from my Shelby. This failure explains a lot about the way this car ran in the garage and even prior to 2000 when it was registered and driven the last time.
I feel good about the decision to build an engine for the car, and I’m confident the fresh engine will be a HUGE improvement. I’ll give more details on the engine build as we get to it, for now, just know it’s going to be a little bit bonkers and nothing like a stock factory GT350 spec 289 HiPo.
