If the person being pranked isn't laughing, it's not a prank.

So their daughter graduated as valedictorian, and for Christmas all she wanted was a singular book costing 40 dollars. so they thought the best way to reward their child was to give her waaaay more gifts that- as it turns out had nothing in them, but her family got every gift they made her think she would get, INCLUDING the one singular fucking book she wanted, and then proceeded to tell her she ruined Christmas for not reacting well. I by no means think it’s abuse to mess with your children in an un harmful way, or to not celebrate Christmas, but that’s straight fucked up and is mental abuse imo

Like there’s no issue exactly doing this if you then have real presents for the person. It’s still messed up, to me, but at least it’s then supposed to just be a joke. What they did was straight up cruel

Did they only do it to the OP? No one else was pranked? Than it wasn't a joke. It was malicious.

If I was her I would have stepped out with the gift i made for them. A joke is suppose everyone laugh, even the target, no exception.

I would’ve taken my gifts back and say “I’ll just get my own gifts once I return all of these” and left. I ain’t taking that, what awful people

It would’ve only been funny if they had actually given her the stuff. And did it with only one present, not all of them.
