Hi, can you give me advice on whether or not I should take up Alevels or FIS in IMU ? I’m currently in dilemma as I’m planning to pursue med. My results are ok. I’m taking spm 3 weeks later . And btw does doing alevels or FIS affect your performance when you are in medical school? As alevels you can learn more stuff compared to FIS. So I just wonder if by doing FIS would I be behind my peers during medical schl . Or its totally unrelated and I would catch up with the ones that took a levels ? I really need ur help 😃😓

I feel that this is a common thing that people worry about since FIS is shorter.. Not sure of other FIS programme but if you are a FIS student in IMU, your knowledge will be more than sufficient because IMU specially integrated some medical information into our syllabus! Hi. I am currently doing my A levels. If I want to do medicine in Malaysia, do you know the requirements needed by the university? And after completing my A levels, can I apply directly to the university, or do I have to take any exams(like any specific exams for international students or entrance exams) before applying? And can international students do internships or residency in Malaysia?
@REBECCANG

Hello! I think after your A-levels you can straight away apply for MBBS here in Malaysia. Just have to meet the min requirements that you can check on IMU's website! Oh and regarding practicing in Malaysia, it is called Housemanship instead of Residency hehe For housemanship, I think you can't do it but I'm not really sure.

Hello! I think so because your pre-med course should be related to science and in order for you to get into your pre-med ( example : Foundation In Science ), you would have to have certain grades for your science subjects in SPM. However, you can double check with your school counselor and the university of your choice!

@@lily-zc1wj Hi, I've been doing some research on Singaporean universities and I couldn't help but chip in: as far as I'm concerned, it's pretty tough to get into the main universities in SG like NUS and NTU. If I were you, I wouldn't do STPM nor foundation, rather Singapore's A-Levels. I am certain they will be a level higher than both foundation and STPM but if all goes well, it should give you a strong chance. I say this purely on the basis of the qualifications of an accepted student into NUS' medical school (undergrad programme). Their usual offer, if I'm not mistaken, hovers around straight As for the Singaporean A-Levels. Since you're a permanent resident, consider yourself lucky. Malaysian students or any foreign students for that matter are usually expected of having a lot more (e.g. winner of national/international olympiads, country representative in sports). Either way, I strongly suggest that you talk with these universities instead of taking my word wholeheartedly.
@kvanheeson5358
3 жыл бұрын
There are some advantages of studying in Singapore. If you look at the consultants in Singaporean private hospitals, you will find that the vast majority of them were NUS graduates. However, a fair portion of them were graduates from a motley of different universities in the UK. Of course, it will definitely be more expensive but you do score a stronger chance of being offered a place, and perhaps even a scholarship, to these universities if you have a Singaporean education. I have a friend whose father studied in Singapore for Primary and Secondary and although he was not the brightest of students, he was easily offered a place at the University of Edinburgh for MBChB.

Hi Joyce ! Yes it is possible to switch to another university but I would recommend everyone to do their FIS at the university that they want to do their degree ( like 80% sure of the university ) because FIS itself is a foundation to your degree so you will be familiar with how everything works in that university.
