This radio broadcast may be one of the rarest performances by Harry James.
James featured his young male vocalist Dick Haymes on "My Silent Love," on a recording from May 21, 1941 for Columbia.
In all of my 55 years of researching the musical career of Harry James, I can only find evidence of one live performance of "My Silent Love."
On a radio broadcast emanating from the Hotel Lincoln in New York City dated December 1, 1941, James and Haymes perform a slightly longer version of the Jack Mathias arrangement.
This was still during the evolution of the Harry James Orchestra, when not only did Harry play his challenging solos, but he was STILL the lead trumpet player for his fledgling band.
Harry later recorded "My Silent Love" for Capitol in 1955.
