What beautiful English you speak! I am very impressed! I have a 2009 NC FL 2.0 6-speed Sport in True Red. My mods are sport exhaust (previous owner) gas struts for the engine bay, K&N air filter, Delfin door buffers, shorty antenna, illuminated shift knob, LED interior lighting, fog light and reversing light, combined LED daylight running lights with fog lights, a combined 7" flatscreen Pioneer GPS Naviceiver FM/DAB+/CD/SD card/Bluetooth/Handsfree telephone system MUCH BETTER than the Bose system, a short (even shorter!) throw gear shift (now precise like a surgeon's scalpel!) and an RX-8 windscreen wiper stalk for variable wipe speeds. Here in Switzerland we have to be very careful about road use approvaI because we have a technical inspection every 2 years and they can refuse to keep it on the road if the modifications don't have EU-wide approval. (I did have LED blinkers but had to return to incandescent bulbs because of regulations). I LOVE these cars! Mine is my second, 15 years old, like new with 70 000 km! All the best from Switzerland, Rob

Thank you for the compliment! I promissed myself to let my fluency in English not be a barrier, despite the mistakes I make. 😅 I trust my English is better than most of my viewers Dutch. 😊 I am impressed with the list of modifications you managed to do. Also within the regulations. The Netherlands must be one of the easiest countries for car modifications, because a lot is allowed.

Idk if you already did it, just found this channel, but PLEASE do the steering wheel audio video. My steering wheel is detachable, but if I can keep the controls close to where the steering wheel would be would be great.

I will make that video very soon. The signals from these controls pass through the clock spring, as does the horn signal, so you need to keep that in mind when designing your mechanical solution.

Hi, really nice list of mx5 experience improving upgrades. Regarding steering wheel I can add, that first gen Mazda6 steering wheel and clockspring unit is direct replacement for NB. I put it on my NB, audio controls works with factory radio "out of box", later I added Mazda 6 cruise control as well, so now I have completely functioning steering wheel buttons :)

Nice job. There is a video on the audio controls in the making. It will cover the Mazda 6 steering wheel as. As you have noticed, I have retrofitted the OEM cruise control solution. I have looked into the Mazda 6 cruise control solution as well. If I recall correctly, it uses an electrical servo, correct! It sounds like a great job you did with the Mazda 6 bits. Happy to learn more about what your did. You can email me via jeroen@mx5info.com if you want.

Great video! Funny how some of these are also my favourites! BTW your exterior colour is quite close to an OE MX5 colour called "black cherry mica" which is an absolute favourite with your interior. One question on the seats, which heater element did you use? My OEM ones are heated, but i want to add heating to my Elise seats as well (currently in the MX5)
@mx5info
29 күн бұрын
Thanks! My initial plan was to have my car painted in Black Cherry Mica. Three years ago however, I bought a project car in that color. I restored it and added some of my favorite modifications. But unfortunately I had an accident while that car was on the trailer. This clip shows that car before the accident: kzitem.info/news/bejne/pKqDmGF7s6Sqmn4 The Jaguar color definitely has more red and brown in it. For the seat heating there are aftermarket products like this one: www.ilmotorsport.de/en/mx-5-seat-heater-1-piece-3990/1371 So far I managed with the heating elements of the original seats and a donor seat.

Very nice video. You’ve given me a few ideas. One alternative to a button that raises and lowers the antenna, is just to bypass the original antenna with a hidden windshield antenna, (placed beneath the metal of the rear fender and beside the original antenna). Whether I’m listening to FM radio or music BT streamed from my phone to the stereo, the antenna remains down.

Hi. Nice Video thank you. I have a NB MK1 in Spain that I bought in June 2000 and I have been its only owner. I don't use it often but I love it and will never sell it. It is a special edition 1 of 500 very similar to yours with interiors in leather beige and the upper part of interior in black. The steering wheel and shifter nob are in wood also from Nardi Torino. It is a special edition in British Racing Green I am planning on installing a 2-DIN android (and carplay) radio and navigation system, mainly for the maps and BT music. Do you have any suggestions? I know it doesn't match the classic interior but these are modern times.

Hola Miguel, gracias a ti por ver mi video. Mi hija mayor vive en Málaga con su novio, desde 2016. Por eso he aprendido español también. It sounds like a very nice MX5 you have. I would probably go for a Sony or Pioneer. I don't have any specific models to recommend, but would focus on visiblity when the sun is on the display and ease of operation. You might consider the audio controls on the steering wheel. I know these were available in Spain. That is easier than operating a touch screen while driving. I am working on a seperate video about all options for audio controls on the steering wheel. It will come soon.

hey, great video! I am curios about the side marker lights and their legality. I am also from an EU country and have been told making them light up with the lights on wound be illegaly but i am not enterily sure, i plan on keeping all 4 of them orange.
@mx5info
26 күн бұрын
Thanks! Standard for the NBs are the orange reflectors. Besides those, you have the orange indicators in the wings, near the mirrors. Those two should not be mixed, meaning that you cannot use the side marker lights to indicate in what direction you are turning the car. In the Netherlands, we have the following rules: - without illumination, the reflectors in the front bumper must be orange; - with illumination, the reflector in the front can be white or orange, but the light they emit, must be orange; - without illumination, the reflectors in the rear bumper must be orange or red; - with illumination, the reflector in the rear bumper can be white, orange or red, but the light they emit, must be orange or red. The ones I use are therefore perfectly legal as the reflectors and lights at the front are orange and the ones in the back are red.

Only if the NB clockspring or for example the Mazda 6 clockspring can be used on your NA. It has to fit on the combination switch. That is the part behind the clockspring..The NA clockspring has only room for the horn wire. The NB clockspring has room for 4 wires and the Mazda 6 clockspring has room for 8 wires.
@mx5info
14 күн бұрын
Maybe there is a possibilty. I will discuss it in a future video. The NB or Mazda 6 clockspring is incompatible with the NA combination switch, but the NB combination switch might be compatible with the NA steering column. That would mean you need to swap the combination switch and the clockspring together. Stay tuned.

Maybe that is why they have it on the left side since the introduction of the NC generation and with the other alternative steering wheels. Cruise control on the right hand side makes more sense I guess. Nevertheless I enjoy having the OEM option. It is the only option for a wooden steering wheel.
