Of your 3, the Gold Rush would be my pick. Outside of those, the Bourbon Basil Smash and the Halekuleani would round out my top 3.

I know It's technically not a bourbon Cocktail, but besides sours and smashes, one of my favourites in the summer is smuggler's Cove Expedition 🤩: dark Jamaican Rum, Bourbon, Coffee Liqueur, Lime Juice, Honey Syrup, Cinnamon Syrup, Vanilla Syrup. TIKI + BOURBON 🤩

Great list. As a bourbon drinker, always looking for good summer options. If you haven't, check out the Red Raider.

Whiskey smash is my new go-to for a warm weather whiskey cocktail. That said, I also have been turned on to rum for this season, and a dark daiquiri sure can hit the spot!

Smash is always a classic! How do you make yours?

I like tequila more than rum for the hot weather. A nice blanco that's certified additive-free is WAY easier on my body when I'm already sweating essential electrolytes than something like rum (which has produced some really bad hangovers with me). But that's just me, where I get optic nerve migraines from dehydration easily, which compounds the discomfort of the hangover 100-fold. But, I still absolutely love my bourbon. I'm playing around with the Gold Rush currently, trying to tweak it "just so." Getting good results using a hot honey syrup, actually.

Had a Bourbon Sidecar while i was watching this, it was pretty refreshing .25oz Simple syrup .75oz Lemon juice 1oz PF Orange Curaçao 2oz Bourbon (Old Forester) I threw in a couple dashes of Bitter Housewife Barrel Aged Bitters and it was pretty nice (not a plug, just an fyi)

These all looked good. Im trying to come up with an idea for an apple mule drink.

Nice! You could go classic with a cinnamon apple Mule using apple brandy as the base and some cinnamon syrup Or another idea is to use a sour apple liqueur as the base

I like to sub the honey syrup with Bärenjäger Honey Liqueur.

I'd love a summery bourbon drink that isn't tart or loaded with mixer. Sours tend to overwhelm with lemon tartness that you can't taste the bourbon.

Yea if you want to really taste the bourbon, the julep is the best!

@RobsHomeBar I've tried the julep and the mint is not my style. I actually just tried a goldrush using my HOT honey syrup (Mike's Hot Honey in 3:1 like you recommend) and only 0.5oz of lemon juice (from concentrate or fresh juiced, doesn't matter as far as tartness goes, but of course fresh is better), but with 1 dash orange bitters and CASK STRENGTH maker's mark (2oz and a splash actually. The additional splash is important) yields a REALLY well balanced bourbon-forward refreshing drink with a very mild bite. I'm loving it. I'm actually wondering what'd happen if I replaced the lemon juice with 0.75oz cointreau and a splash of lemon juice (0.25oz or less).
