Love the layout. Grew up in northern Jersey and fell in love with the Metroliner. Picked up the Bachmann set but have kitbashed 4 cars into phase 1 4 unit train (used Kato RDC powered chassis on each, so it is a true EMU). You can see it on my channel. Would love to have a setup like yours to run mine on.

Nice work on your kitbashed Metroliner! Researching my next 1968-1983 video, I am growing much more fond of the Metroliner. Even though they were only 38 cars and had significant problems, they look very ‘70’s space age cool and must have made the day for a lot of railfans. I think Rapido could become interested in doing a model. Please submit a product suggestion to them.

ah this was very interesting ! did you know that the european n scale producer arnold rapido once made an elastic thread to be used for stringing catenary over their n scale track. You still can find similar products in sewing departments and in shops that sell hobby products. you also could try fishing line. The all are flexible so you still can easily clean those tracks. I too run trains in n scale and maybe one day will try to build a small part of the North east corridor and run Gg1s there. Good luck with your nice project !

In 1983, I did a European N sceniced layout on a 1220x2440mm board with Arnold track and catenary. I bought some rubber wire, but didn’t install it because it looked about 10x out of scale.

I know this prototype goes way back but I'd love to see Kato release some Pennsy MP-54 bookcase sets someday. They'd go nicely with their GG1s and with some N scale E44s and BLI's P5s, you'd be able to have a really solid roster of Pennsy-era NEC rolling stock.

I couldn’t agree more! Please submit two Kato USA product suggestions for MP54 and E44. I am working on my 1968-1982 video, then 1952-1967. I will be strongly advocating for NEC fans to demand those models. Until then, I will be using Kato or Tomix brown Japanese series 72 EMUs as a stand-in.

What happened to this layout? Did u ever finish it? Your layout inspired me to get into n scale, especially the NE corridor! Please give us an update.

As a Marylander I’m foaming at the mouth to have modern MARC representation in N scale, mind boggling how Kato has ALC-42 and MP36PH models and no MARC variants; I know this video is mostly covering other NEC roads, but a giant local road gap from DC to Pennsylvania is uniquely frustrating.
