That's probably the best innovative pedals for a very long time. I also like they did a very simple UI with the cell-buttons to connect each modules. That's something that could find its place on a pedalboard. I only wish they would be even more I/O (to really have more control of other pedals, maybe some ⅛" CV out to use with pedals that have an Control input). Unfortunately, we have to admit that most guitarist will just be too dumb for that kind of product... sad, but true!

looks awesome really, love that you can build your own sounds and effects. it's like an eventide harmoniser in pedal format... if they release a computer based editor it would be the bomb

Then get a laptop/portable workstation, some MIDI modules, and some MIDI controllers, and have access to not only the capabilities of the Zoia but infinitely more, and likely easier to use on stage or in a live environment. The game changes, for sure, when you're sitting in a studio. Zoia looks like an amazing idea generator and studio tool, but outside of that, I see a lot of redundancy with equipment that's already available, and has more time/familiarity in the market.

Don't judge a book by its cover. No shame in my dad-rock pose. The eight years I was in a cover band playing dad-rock paid in full a lot of fun vacations to various spots around the world, and other pursuits. I loved being on stage with some of my best friends. I am thinking like a guitar player, yes, and I also I understand how big the scene is for synth heads, and guitar players with leanings towards synths. The hardware has come a long, long, LONG way - especially dedicated units like the Zoia. I can only imagine how much simpler and cooler devices like the Zoia make generating ideas or creating pads or soundscapes for synth-heads on the fly or in the studio. With the experiences I've had combining traditional instruments (I play guitar, bass, trumpet, trombone, banjo and dobro) and synths (yes, synths can even work with banjo, or vice versa), I maintain a laptop or similar self-contained software-driven workstation with a small keyboard or trigger pad will be the best way to go for most. Not the Zoia. If you're coming at it from the synth world first, guitar second, well, then this might be a nice shiny new toy and really blow your beard back. But that's not me. With that in mind, my comments stand.

Looks cool, but I don't get it. The sounds aren't coming from the Zoia, the Arturia is already capable of creating those kinds of synth sounds and the reverb has the reverb/spatial effects down.
@Spidouz
6 жыл бұрын
Nope, the Arturia here is only a controller keyboard that send midi notes to Zoia that will generate synth sounds.
@Rambo29
6 жыл бұрын
Thats true, but also false. The Arturia IS GENERATING the sound because if you don't hit the key, the pitch won't sound and the Zoia won't read a signal. All of those sounds can be made using the software that comes with the Arturia and you have infinitely more options with a computer based system. That Zoia looks like a brokedown drum machine, waste of money and space!
@Spidouz

I don't think you understand how it works here... the Arturia is only generating midi signal, not sound.

It's does great stuff but it's over engineering at its best. Tiny screen, flimsy buttons. It's dead on arrival. Super small sales for this unit guaranteed.

How is tiny screen and flimsy buttons "over engineering"? In any case, a year on, it seems to be sold out everywhere in Europe right now, so it certainly is more popular than Empress thought it would be.
