I kno..I don't watch tennis that much,only really watching becuz of Naomi Osaka..but when I was watching this video..I'm not gonna lie,I did got a little irritated every time the blonde tennis player made those grunting noises every time she hits..but I get it,if it works for them,they can do what they please..but Osaka barely made those grunting noises and looked like she was playing with ease and without much strain..

Nope. Seles started the excessive grunting and every player since has done it since the WTA hasn't done a thing to curb it. Sharapova, Serena, Azarenka and de Brito are the worst at it.

i tend to agree. naomi was off her game and naomi found a way to win. that is the kind of thing that a person have to be able to do to become a #1 ranked player. strycova is a very good player, and a very crafty player, currently ranked #25, and naomi still had more than enough game to dispatch of strycova in straight sets without facing the threat of losing the match. that is telling about how good naomi's game is right now. what particularly impresses, in terms of naomi's development as a player, is that she figured out how to make adjustments without needing on-court coaching.

@paperwait9611

the way naomi is playing right now, when she is on the opponent is probably going to lose. it is smart strategy to go after naomi's backhand even though she has been pretty solid on both forehand and backhand (for example, she can change direction from either side), but her forehand is the better shot.

I don't understand all the Serena-stans in every Osaka youtube video. Face the facts. Serena hasn't beaten her in two tries. Yes, Serena is the GOAT but the GOAT is old and getting older. She doesn't intimidate Osaka since Osaka patterned her own game after the good bits of Serena and Federer. Once Osaka establishes a slice change-up and a proper net game, watch out. One impressive thing to note about Osaka is she doesn't overhit. She's content to rally with good pace but good clearance and deep shots until she gets an attackable ball which she then pounces.

carolina garcia is in a difficult situation as you stated. garcia got most of her current points after the US open, so she has a lot of points to defend and is at risk of not making to the wta final tournament this year. naomi ranked #4 in points earned during the current season and it is highly likely that she will qualify for the wta final tournament. of the 8 slots available for the wta final tournament, i suspect that only the 8th, and final, slot is still in play where there are 4 or 5 player competing for it.

@paperwait9611
6 жыл бұрын
i happen to agree with what strycova said; serena's claims of "sexism" were BS. serena had her meltdown during the US open final because she was losing. she then took her frustrations out on carlos ramos. the coaching warning did not negatively affect serena's play. the warning was in the second game of the second set. two games later, serena broke naomi's serve to go up 3-1. in the following game, naomi broke serena's serve. that led to serena smashing her racket and getting a second warning. naomi then held serve and broke serena's serve a second time. serena was now trailing 3-4. at this time, serena is down a set and a break. she was on the way to losing the match. this led to serena's meltdown during which she directed her frustrations at ramos. that led to the third warning. serena compartmentalized it all and claimed that she got the third warning simply for calling ramos a "thief". but serena had been barking at ramos before that. by the time that serena had gotten that third warning, she was pretty much out of control.

@@paperwait9611 Ramos felt he had been verbally abused by Serena. 🙄 He issued that code violation as she was in place to serve at 4-3, and if she had won that game, they would have been on serve. She called the man a "liar"and a "theif." She did not "bark" at him. She verbalized her disdain, repeatedly nonetheless. 🙄 Give me a break...He had basically called her a "cheat," which she vehemently denied. He attacked her and she defended herself, but unfortunately, he had all the power. He did not let the game speak for itself. He could've warned her to calm down or she would get a 3rd violation and lose a game; however, he chose the most aggressive approach.("discretion") She loses serve, and a game, now it's 5-3 and Osaka to serve. It's a "#$&@N" Grand Slam Final. I am not excusing Serena's racket breaking, but his discretionary call or "strictly by the rules" as some have proclaimed, helped to decide that match. He should've let her vent and ignored her. Verbal abuse my caboose.😶 I wondered if a white man had said that to him.🤔 I wonder if a white woman had said that to him.🤔 I wonder if anyone other than this black woman standing up for herself had demanded an apology.🤔 An entire game at such a critical time in the match was excessive. PERIOD! Strycova, girl bye! 🙄 Serena has been in a losing position before (Wimbledon Final 2018) and a few other Finals as well as other Rounds, and Finals. Nobody likes to lose, and I am sure when your time comes again to lose in a Grand Slam Final whereby a male umpire can not take words from you after he attacks your character, you will sit quietly with your racket under your ass, and say "thank you for following the rules, and I do not care to defend myself." Oh, you have not been in a Grand Slam Final! 🕵And further more, this is bigger than this match, and for the male umpires to threaten to boycott any of her future matches proves the standard for a woman chosing to call out the bias. His decision was discretionary. Verbal abuse!!!! WTFE. #renasarmy 💪🎾

@juanderful m: if don't fully understand what you are stating. at 4-3, naomi was serving after having broken serena on two successive service games. after the game-penalty, it was serena's serve, not naomi's. serena did more than just call ramos a "thief", she ordered him to make an announcement that she didn't receive coaching (which made no logical sense), she told him to apologize to her, she told him that he would never officiate any more of her matches. there was a lot that could conceivably be called "verbal abuse" before she got the warning. however, the words "thief" and "liar" clearly fell within the verbal abuse warning. the point is, it was not just the word "thief" that got serena the warning. the game warning did not decide the match. naomi was up a set and a break and was in control of the second set. serena was not going to win the match. as i stated, the coaching warning wasn't the problem because serena was able to play through that. the problem was when serena became frustrated because she was out of ideas on how to turn the match around and it was in the second half of the second set. i don't know where you are getting this stuff about ramos attacking serena's character. mouratoglou *was* coaching serena. he was caught on camera and he admitted it. my personal opinion is that ramos should have not issued the game penalty because it put the official too much into the match. it would have been better to let it go and let serena get fined after the match (which she did). furthermore, there were only 2, or at most 3, games left in the match. if naomi had broken serena for a third straight game, there would have not been another changeover in the match, so that would have been the last opportunity for serena to jawbone at ramos. as it was, ramos game penalty changed the course of the match and created controversy in a match that naomi was going to win anyway. this match is a terrible example to hold up as evidence of sexism or even racism (even if they actually were factors) because serena was just so out of control and her meltdown coincided with her being on the way to losing the match.

@@paperwait9611 Maybe I am wrong. I thought when the game changed to 5-3 Serena had lost the game for the penalty, and they were at 4-3, and Serena was to serve to hopefully put them on serve. So you are saying Osaka got the game and the next service? I will have to rewatch to confirm; nevertheless, we are in partial agreement that Ramos' game penalty to Serena changed the momentum. I never count a Wms' sister out of a match til the last match point is won by their opponent. 🕵👌 And as for sexism and racism, it is a culmination of everything that occurs...I refuse to believe that a man or a white woman would have gotten an entire game taken away at a such a crucial time in a Final. This is why I say Ramos' discretionary use of a code violation for verbal abuse, thus a loss of a game to change the score to 5-3, and Osaka to serve out the match was unwarranted. I thank you for the civility in this debate, as others have not had when I have been in this discussion. 🙏Nemaste
