what should happen to test which one is harder could be to go a track like daytona with an f1 car and a nascar and have the f1 driver in the nascar able to practice and have the nascar driver in the f1 car able to practice then after a couple of days the drivers should set a lap time in their respective car and see if the other driver can then beat that time or come anywhere close to it and then they should do the sane at either a road course in america or go to a track that f1 races at excluding cota, so they could maybe go somewhere like bahrain, austria, silverstone even and a few more tracks that they could choose from to defenitively answee the question of which one is harder.

Which is more challenging? Just ask someone who’s driven both cars: Juan Pablo Montoya. In Season 18 Episode 2 of Top Gear, in which Richard Hammond examined NASCAR history and culture, Montoya had this to say: “To drive, nothing drives like a Formula 1 car. But these cars are more unpredictable. They slide a lot more. They have no brakes. And when I say no brakes…because, the cars are so heavy and the brakes are so tiny.”

I like this comment. It's someone who knows what they're talking about. Nascar and F1 are 2 completely different disciplines and each require their own set of skills. It's like putting TaeKwonDo against BJJ and telling them to only throw hands for 15 rounds. Neither one is gonna be adept at it so the argument is useless since TKD is 98% kicks with little to no focus on punching, and BJJ is a grappling sport. Nascar is tough in its own ways, and so is F1. Debate settled.

F1 is competitive, but there are a few more competitive series like V8 Supercars and Rallycars. Specifically WRC. The V8s are basically stock cars on a F1 track. And WRC is a sport where you need to be PERFECT to win. There are no walls, no safety procedures, if you make a mistake you're flipping into a tree or off a mountain.

The hardest motorsport is all of them. It's not easy driving a race car between 100 and 220 mph on some of the toughest tracks that have you side by side in a huge pack on the verge of being wrecked, racing on high banks of a short track, going through some of the tightest corners on road courses, battling on a small 1 grove banked mile, or slugging it out on a dirt course where fenders and tempers can fly off. Driving a race car is hard in general as each series, car, and track is different. It comes down to what are the most challenging things to racing, and then you will find your answer.

As a NASCAR fan, F1 is a totally different animal to pretty much any other racing series. It's less racing cars and more racing jet planes that are velcroed to Earth. It requires a much different skillset than many other disciplines, which is why I think Edwards, a mid to high tier NASCAR driver, was able to best Schumacher in that race. The ROC car is much closer to what Cousin Carl is used to racing, whereas there's basically nothing in common between the ROC cars and an F1 machine. Both are very technical and everyone who races professionally is a better driver in their sleep than I could ever be, but they both have qualities that make it hard for a head to head comparison.

As an F1 fan I second your take 100%. Also Nascar side-drafting duells at 200 mph are quite enjoyable to watch, ngl. Or multiple-lane fights through corners. And the recent participation of a modified Nascar in the 24h of Le Mans was kind of special, too. 😊

Funny how people here in the comments keep yelling "F1!" "Nascar" "Rally!" Every single championship is highly challenging in its own way. In F1 you gotta be a surgeon in every lap to be as fast as possible every lap while managing tyre temp and degradation, fuel and a perfect strategy between pit and driver. In Nascar you are battling for hours every single lap, the tension is insane, strategy is important as well but the driver gotta know when and where to take his chance. In rally you basically have to be the fastest in every single condition to be called "world champion". Stop debating on these useless stuff making stories out of nothing and just be a huge petrolheads community for once.
