Hey man you can do it. Life will not get any easier till you get and stay clean. It usually means kicking every single person out of your life and just spending alot of time by yourself or pick one or two clean friends only to be around. Thats where most people mess up.if kicking all your old.friends out of.your.life and absolutely NEVER allow them back in it even if they get clean. It can be a some what lonely life but you will be so much happier about yourself and about just being alive and healthy. Have 3.5 behind me. This is what I did and still do to this day. You got this bro i promise you

Man, Having a massive stack of firewood to process actually sounds kind of therapeutic. When I was a few years younger, I processed 3 cords of unsplit round logs for a neighbor and stacked it all up and I think it took me over 2 months of working a few hours every day (I was like... 15). But watching that giant pile slowly reduce and turn into a nice line of stacked wood was wonderful. It would be nice to have a few hours of optional exercise every day, but I have also worked forced labor jobs 10 hours a day and I know how quickly it becomes more of a hinderance than therapy lol.

WV is a beautiful place, I'm originally from Mingo county and still have quite a bit of family up there, so I know what you mean when you say that mid-day heat is killer, and for me though it's the humidity. When you get down in one of the hollers on a hot day with no wind it's like being in a sauna.

I’m in central Georgia, it’s been extremely hot and humid here and it hasn’t rained a drop in 42 days, since May 17th. So I’m having to manually water my crops and fruit trees and it takes hours to do every 2-3 days as hot as it is! It’s a lot, I grow just about any and everything you could name! And all that watering is on top of the all the labor required in growing each type of fruit or vegetable…. I’m hoping it rains soon!

I love seeing the work ethic he has and he seems like a great young man. I live in Eastern Kentucky back in BFE. Born and raised. He's young and has a lot to learn, he's very careless and I'm not sure where y'all are at but medical treatment is a long way from where I am. I'm glad he's with you Nate and you can watch over him some. I don't want him hurt, and it's very easy thing to happen out here. Also a lot of people don't like others on their land and they don't ask questions most of the time. You gotta teach him to watch out for the locals. Some can be not nice people if you're a outsider. Help him stay out of trouble. Small town politics and law enforcement love a outsider and like to make examples out of them. Please watch over him when you can. I've already saw stuff he's done that would have gotten me beat in growing up. I'm glad he was proud and wanting to use his new chainsaw but if you're working for someone for pay you use their tools and not your own. There's a lot he needs to learn living in Appalachia. He definitely need to learn the snakes. What you can and can't eat from the land. Teach him what ginseng, yellowroot, and blood root is. Edibles like Dock, wild lettuce, polk, mountain tea and some medicines like chewing on a willow twig will cure a headache or tooth ache, just things we were all taught growing up. The differences between the trees and such. He needs to really slow down and take his time. When cutting the wood up. He need a couple saw horses and also he handled that wood so many times. He wasting a lot of energy doing unnecessary things. Just trying to help. Id like to see him do well there and not get hurt but if he keeps going like his pants are on fire and his ass is a catchin, being careless and not aware of your surroundings will get you hurt fast. I grew up here and I survived 2 copperhead bites and he does not want that. If he can make friends with some of the other old timers around and listen and slow down I think he'll do well. When he was using the chainsaw the other day I was cringing. He need to be careful on that 4 wheeler also and wear a helmet. It will save your life. Many times I wish I had used one and I've had many concussions from it. It was always walk it off though. Unless we had bone sticking through the skin we didn't go to the doctor. There's just about any natural remedy in these woods if you know how to prepare it. I suggest he always carries a compass and a lighter or a ferrous rid with him. It very easy to get lost if you haven't been here you're whole life. Keep a eye on him Nate and you may have to sit him down and tell him it's not a race. I know that the young man in him. Most of us were like that and like may papaw always said. Education is expensive. Take care guys.

@@beccaenglish1967 I like the young man and I just don't want to see him hurt. There's a lot in Appalachia you have to be careful of and the people are some you have to watch unless you grew up there. They don't give much slack to outsiders. Id also advise him not to call anyone a hillllbilly or redddneckk. It's ok for us but a outsider it's a pretty bad slur againstsvus and I've saw many fights over those two words. If he makes some friends he will be ok though. Well great you like family if you're polite and don't make any mad. Like I said I've been here all my life and there's some hollers I won't even go up. It's a beautiful but dangerous place.
