It was a cool team. I love Larry Bird. But if Reggie Miller gets called for an offensive foul like he technically should have in like Game 4 or whenever, this would have been a 5 or at most 6 game series. Miller hits an exciting 3 to win that game to ties the series 2-2, but he had to shove Jordan with 2 arms extended to get open - You can't even do that in FOOTBALL nowadays without offensive pass INT - let alone basketball (which is not the contact sport football is). In the NFL, if a receiver or tight end takes one hand (not even 2) and shoves the defender away with a fully extended arm, that's Pass INT on the offense. But hey, that made the series more exciting and dramatic.

taurusve Yes, but if we had won this game, we would have faced the 1998 Utah Jazz in the NBA Finals. Not sure how good they were. Stockton and Malone were on the down slope of their careers by that point. Yes, Utah had swept the Lakers in the conference finals, but those Lakers were not yet the dominant force that they became in the years to follow. So that MIGHT have been our best chance to win it all. Nobody thought that the 1999-00 Pacers had a chance against the 1999-00 Lakers in the NBA Finals, and they were right. I'm impressed that the Pacers took them to six games honestly, because the Lakers were an unstoppable force at that time. The 2003-04 and 2004-05 Pistons were VERY good, and the Pacers did not even get to Game 7 in either of those series.
