While there was an occasional flair to King's game, most of it was just brutally efficient, in some ways, not much different than Bird. A right-hander who loved the left side of the court, If Bernard got the ball in his spots, he was unstoppable.

Bernard King taking the series to a 7th game against that stacked Celtics team. Look at what Bernard King has as support on his team, and he still took that Celtics team to game seven. That is a great Celtics front line he is scoring 44 point on. He took the Knicks to game seven against the Celtics that won the championship that year. Sad he got the knee injury. Would have been great to see a healthy BK with Pat Ewing.

I've always said the reason the Knicks didn't win a championship during that era is bc Bernard King wrecked his knee & when he finally worked his way back the Knicks management did some really stupid shit by trading him. He was only like 85% of what he used to be but still better than 95% of the other small forwards in the NBA. Had they paired him with Patrick Ewing they definitely would've been a serious threat to win it all bc King would've been the primary scorer which makes much easier for Ewing inside.

Bird being the main man, coming out on top (to say the least), let’s call it… in an era with such forwards as Bernard King, Julius Erving, Dominique Wilkins, Charles Barkley, Alex English, Terry Cummings, Adrian Dantley, Ralph Sampson, Karl Malone, James Worthy, Chris Mullin, and so on… says pretty much all it needs to be said! BK was a beast though, especially at his peak!

Bernard king did a lot on offense. But actually the reason the Knicks were so good was because of their defense. They had a defense better than the Celtics that year. And king obviously wasn’t a good defender. So he has more than a good supporting cast, they were just defensive guys.

Nah, he didn’t create enough for teammates to be close to the best offensive players. Both bird and Magic were easily better “offensive forces” because they were much better playmakers and created many more scoring opportunities for teammates. Being an offensive force is making your team as an efficient of offense as possible. Just mainly high isolation scoring with little creation isn’t going to be as effective. Hence the 1984 Knicks had a below average offense.

The reason why Ewng never got a championship is because he needed this guy beside him during his best years. I don't think Chicago beats that Knicks team firing on all cylinders. King could outscore Jordan or make a Jordan 50-60 point night mean little. Then, Chicago had no one for Ewing. Ewing could be decent offensively, but he had his problems in the clutch. That being said, Ewing and King seem like it have been a championship pairing,
