It was amazing how crazed the world got about Titanic in 1998. That movie was a pop culture phenomenon. I think people forget just how much of an impact that movie made when it came out

Titanic was #1 at the box office for 15 weeks. It warned 11 Oscars out of 14 nominations. The soundtrack was also No. 1 on the charts for 14 weeks. I think its so far ahead of it's time and that's why all of these critics are still trashing it.

Yup Titanic was so huge that it kept Madonna's Ray of Light album from #1 on the charts in 1998, DESPITE the fact that Ray of Light had the highest first week sales of any album by a woman in music history at that time. Crazy

@@Gencturk92 If memory serves, "Titanic" was supposed to be the big tentpole release for the Summer of '97 , I remember seeing adverts heralding it to be the Summer blockbuster but I gather post production difficulties pushed it back to be the BIG Holiday offering for Dec. 1997 - I believe that's when all the box office doom and gloom naysayers started predicting that it would be a bomb..I know I was disappointed to have to wait another 6 months (the hype was incredible for that movie) but the wait was so worth it and all the merch tie-ins were perfect for the Christmas season..I think I alone received at least 5 different books and/ or documentaries on Titanic for Xmas. lol still have 'em.

Titanic came out a little bit after my parents got divorced. I was 6, I remember going with my Dad and his date to see it and then I went with my mom and her date to see it. Hollywood predicted Titanic is gonna be a disaster? Well they underestimated James Cameron and were proven wrong. Titanic was Phenomenal. This is one of my all time favorites. I saw its 25th Anniversary re-release in Theaters this past Sunday. Still meant to be seen on the Big Screen. It’s my second time watching it in Theaters cause I went and saw its previous re-release in April 2012 in 3D. James Cameron is a Movie genius.

Titanic was released on December 19, 1997, but made most of its gross during 1998, as it was the #1 film for its first 15 weeks in a row. By the time of this segment, it had already grossed around $157 million in the US alone (it grossed $601 million in the US total in its original release; a 2012 3D rerelease added another $58 million to the US total).

I swear the people that constantly complain about the media making everything political I swear conservatives love to make everything about politics themselves. As well as complaining about liberals wanting to cancel and boycott everything but are the main ones doing the same thing now. Hypocrites. Like being snowflakes over beer cans and wanting to put thousands of people out of work cause you think your opinion should decide on what decisions everyone should make. That's why I'm an independent voter now.
